For the fourth consecutive week, 37-year old Kurt Warner threw for more than 300 yards in a single game. Furthermore, he has thrown a touchdown pass in each of the last 18 games, which is one less than the franchise benchmark for the Arizona Cardinals. Warner has materialized as the most prolific quarterback in the NFL in 2008, and perhaps an MVP candidate. On Sunday, Warner completed 32 passes in 44 attempts for a total of 395 yards. He threw one touchdown pass and one interception.
On the season, Warner has thrown 20 touchdown passes and seven interceptions. He has completed 270 passes in 381 attempts for 3,155 yards and a completion percentage of 70.9.
"We're back in the mix again. Obviously, there's still a long way to go, but to be ten games in and be in the mix is fun," said the two-time NFL MVP.
2. (2) Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers (4-6): 100.8 Quarterback Rating
On Sunday, Philip Rivers reverted to the inconsistency that plagued him throughout the 2007 campaign. Rivers was enjoying a breakout season prior to Sunday's disappointing 11 to 10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Rivers failed to connect for a touchdown, and coughed up two key interceptions despite the fact that the Steelers were without two of their top cornerbacks. He completed only 15 passes in 26 attempts for 159 yards. Rivers' production has dropped off a bit since returning from the bye week. The Chargers have set themselves in a precarious situation as far as the playoff picture is concerned. It is vital that they find some consistency on both sides of the ball.
On the season, Rivers has thrown an NFL-high 21 touchdown passes versus ten interceptions. He has completed 191 passes in 296 attempts for 2,513 yards and a completion percentage of 64.5.
"Anytime a defense gives up nine points, we should win the game. We didn't get it done," said the frustrated quarterback.
3. (3) Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints (5-5): 95.4 Quarterback Rating
Led by the unflappable Drew Brees, the New Orleans Saints won a pivotal game, as they continue to remain in Wild Card contention. After the Kansas City Chiefs scored a touchdown to close the gap to seven points in the fourth quarter, Brees and the Saints offense consumed 6:27 seconds, which encompassed 12 plays capped off by a field goal, giving the Saints a 20 to 10 lead. Although it was not his best game statistically, Brees produced when the Saints needed him to. He threw one touchdown pass, and one interception. He completed 25 passes in 36 attempts for 266 yards.
On the season, Brees has thrown 18 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions. He has completed 266 passes in 398 attempts for an NFL-high 3,251 along with a completion percentage of 66.8.
"Only being up by a touchdown (in the fourth quarter), we realized we needed to put a drive together to put it away...This is our time to make a run (at the playoffs)," said Brees.
4. (5) Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers (5-5): 94.5 Quarterback Rating
Aarons Rodgers was on the money as far as accuracy was concerned in the Green Bay Packers 37 to 3 thumping of the Chicago Bears. He completed 23 passes in 30 attempts for a total of 227 yards. He threw two touchdown passes and only one interception.
On the season, Rodgers has thrown fifteen touchdown passes and six interceptions. He has completed 205 passes in 318 attempts for 2,351 yards and a completion percentage of 64.5.
5. (4) Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys (6-4): 99.9 Quarterback Rating
Tony Romo was less than remarkable in his return to the Cowboys lineup. Nevertheless, they upstaged with Washington Redskins in what was perhaps the most pivotal game of the season for the Cowboys. Running back Marion Barber deserves most of the credit for the 14 to 10 victory. Romo's rickety performance included two interceptions and one touchdown pass. He completed 19 passes in 27 attempts for 198 yards. Romo should improve his production the more he is on the field.
On the season, Romo has thrown 15 touchdown passes and seven interceptions. He has completed 147 passes in 227 attempts for 1,887 yards and a completion percentage of 64.8.
6. (7) Jay Cutler, Denver Broncos (6-4): 90.7 Quarterback Rating
Cutler did not accumulate 400 plus yards as he did last week, but it was another solid outing for the third year quarterback.
On the season, Cutler has thrown 19 touchdown passes versus 11 interceptions. He has completed 230 passes in 369 attempts for 2,832 yards and a completion percentage of 62.3.
7. (NR) Brett Favre, New York Jets (7-3): 93.0 Quarterback Rating
Brett Favre displayed his fourth quarter/overtime magic versus the Patriots. That was the perfect gift to hardcore Jets fans.
On the season, Favre has thrown 18 touchdown passes and 12 interceptions. He has completed 220 passes in 315 attempts for 2,237 yards with a completion percentage of 69.8.
8. (NR) Peyton Manning, Indianapolis Colts (6-4): 86.6 Quarterback Rating
For the first time this season, Peyton Manning is in the top ten.
On the season, Manning has thrown 17 touchdown passes versus nine interceptions. He has completed 234 passes in 380 attempts for 2,568 yards and a completion percentage of 61.6.
9. (9) Chad Pennington, Miami Dolphins (6-4): 92.8 Quarterback Rating
Nothing special, but another win for the Dolphins, and another respectable performance by Pennington.
On the season, Pennington has thrown eight touchdown passes and five interceptions. He has completed 201 passes in 300 attempts for 2,374 yards and a completion percentage of 67.0.
10. (8) Jason Campbell, Washington Redskins (6-4): 90.3 Quarterback Rating
Jason Campbell appeared lost against the Dallas Cowboys.
On the season, Campbell has thrown nine touchdown passes and three interceptions. He has completed 198 passes in 307 attempts for 2,122 yards and a completion percentage of 64.5.
Falling out: Donovan McNabb, Philadelphia Eagles (83.4 QB Rating); Eli Manning, New York Giants (87.6 QB Rating)
Other notable players: Jeff Garcia, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (91.2 QB Rating); Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons (87.8 QB Rating); Matt Cassel, New England Patriots (87.3 QB Rating); Kerry Collins, Tennessee Titans (82.0 QB Rating); Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers (79.0 QB Rating)
