Top Ten Obama Failures for 2009

Marc Schenker
Happy New Year to all my readers, and what better, oh, what better way to celebrate the start of a new year than by looking backwards. That's right...looking backwards at all the greatest failures of the Obama Administration from 2009, its first year in power! Here for your reading pleasure is a Top Ten compilation of what I deem to be the ten most failing moments of Barack Hussein Obama relating to his policies; this list is by no means complete, and he seems to add to it every day, but you get the picture. So, here's to a happy new year and a retrospective of Obama's biggest failures of 2009:

Number 10:

Overturning the Mexico City policy!

Just a few weeks after his inauguration, Obama permitted the use of US taxpayer dollars to fund overseas abortions, reversing the Bush stand that had respected and protected the sanctity of life. I bet all those babies that were aborted all throughout 2009 as a direct result of this Obama policy are not smiling now. No, sir, they sure ain't.

Number 9:

Tie between bowing to the Saudi king and the Japanese emperor!

This one was a hard one to distinguish between, and the reason I ranked them a tie was because both acts of groveling have the same ill effects for America: to make the country look weak before the world and America's enemies.

Number 8:

Accepting the Nobel Peace Prize arrogantly and remorselessly!

Since he was errantly awarded said prize for a laughable, several-day period into his young administration, Obama himself knows that he didn't achieve anything at all and that the award was merely a socialist-Europe projection of the lofty hopes they have for him. However, the classy thing would've been for Obama to graciously reject the reward, citing his utter lack of achieving...well, anything of merit (unless you count empty rhetoric!).

Number 7:

Dithering while US soldiers continued to die in Afghanistan!

When you're the POTUS, and your top general-in Obama's case, McChrystal-tells you that he needs more than 40k more soldiers to have a chance at winning, you don't ask questions...you give the general the troops! Unless, of course, you're a weak-on-terror POTUS like Obama, whereby you agonizingly stall for a few months while more of your countrymen die in Afghanistan. Bet those dead soldiers would've liked you to have sent the extra manpower...earlier, Mr. Obama.

Number 6:

Signing into law the no-job- saving or-creating "Stimulus" bill!

Just a few weeks into his presidency, Obama used fearmongering to rush-sign into law the fiasco known as the trillion-dollar, deficit-raising "Stimulus" bill, lying to all Americans that it was necessary to make sure the unemployment rate doesn't go beyond 8%! But...but...but...it kind of...did...go over 8%, didn't it? Why, I'm positive the rate now sits at a shameful 10%!

Number 5:

Setting an arbitrary pullout date in Afghanistan!

The lesson that we learned from the Bush Administration was that you don't set timetables for your jihadist enemies to be able to time when you leave the country they're trying to claim as their own. Yet Obama nonetheless put an arbitrary, 2011 withdrawal date on Afghanistan, basically signaling to the Islamofascists that all they have to do is wait the US out before taking over the country. Bad Obama!

Number 4:

Getting a photo-op of Air Force One over NYC without telling anyone!

Remember 911? You know, the worst terror attack on US soil since Pearl Harbor? Well, I for one sure as hell do, but it almost seemed like Obama didn't back when he was okay with a dangerously low flyover of NYC by Air Force One! Remember all the scared-to-death New Yorkers who thought it was another case of terrorism? Yeah, well I bet they still haven't forgiven Obama for that mindlessness.

Number 3:

Blame...Bush!

Whether it's to cover-up his administration's lax ability to be on top of terrorism, or deflecting blame from his economic policies, it seems Obama always has an answer for everything. Namely, don't blame me, but blame Bush instead! This course of logic has gotten so stale that even liberals are beginning to get tired of it.

Number 2:

Lobbyists still all over Obama WH!

Despite his numerous promises while campaigning, Obama has undeniably broken his promise about ridding DC of all the poisonous lobbyists. Lobbyists still hang around the Obama Administration, influencing all things from the dying Obamacare legislation to the AG's office as Eric Holder used to be a top lobbyist until 2004.

Number 1:

Drumroll, please. One word: Obamacare!

This is absolutely the Waterloo of Obama's presidency as it is the single piece of irrefutably reeking legislation that has been the catalyst for Obama's approval numbers tanking to below 50 as they have recently. With the majority of Americans against it according to reliable polls like Rasmussen, Obamacare is a sinking ship. The more Obama and his ideology-driven Dems keep insisting on ramming this down the throats of Americans, the more likely it Republicans will retake Congress this year.

What does everyone think of this list? Well, why don't you tell me what I missed or could've done better?

    Great list.

  • Susan Braun1/15/2010

It had to be a challenge to come up with just 10 ... good reading!

he would keep unemployment below 8% and he didn't, then he failed in that regard. That's as objective and logical a critique as I can make. From a more personal perspective: democracies move slowly, policies take time to take effect. Economically, you really can pin the first six months or so, if not on Bush, then simply on past decisions. Secondly, no President worth a damn will please everyone. If you simply have it in for Obama then you will find all the ammunition you want to criticize or lampoon him. If you want a more objective take on the effectiveness of his policies, you're going to need a lot longer than one year to evaluate them.

Oh, I almost forgot...Cash for Clunkers! The only people it benefitted were the repo men, who are already taking back the large trucks and SUVs purchased by people who couldn't really afford them after all.

Great column! I know it must be hard to narrow it down to only ten. I was recently disturbed by his recent executive order allowing Interpol access to the US independent of US law.
