Are you looking for a good movie where someone is totally psychologically disturbed? Are you looking for an interesting movie where you have no idea what will happen next, because the word normal is not part of anyone's vocabulary? Here are some great movies about psychologically disturbed individuals.

A psychologically disturbed individual might have multiple personality disorders, where you never know which person you are talking to. Or, perhaps someone can't remember things from one day to the next. Maybe, an event messed with the person's mind and now they don't think straight. Read on...

1. Sybil (1976). Sybil was the first movie about multiple personality disorder that I ever saw. I was very young when I first watched it, so I didn't really understand it all that well. Sybil stars Sally Fields and is about a woman who has multiple personalities. She doesn't know what is wrong with her, but it becomes clear that this came about as a result of her defense mechanisms dissociating parts of her brain from each other, to block out painful memories from her childhood. Sybil starts on a journey into therapy to try and reunite the parts of herself. It's a must see for those interested in psychological disturbances!

2. The Jacket (2005). The Jacket stars Adrian Brody, as a man who was in the Gulf War, who returns with amnesia. The movie is about him piecing together what happened to him. The Jacket is a very odd movie, one you could watch two or three times before you really understand everything. It's got a great plot, and if you like to really have to think, it's definitely the odd movie for you.

3. A Beautiful Mind (2001). Watch Russell Crowe as a mathematical genius with schizophrenia. His psychological issues begin to affect his life, and he must work to try and get through them. Will he conquer the schizophrenia, or will it destroy him?

4. KPax (2001). Another 2001 movie, KPax stars Kevin Spacey as a man who says he is from another planet. He is very believable, but what is this really about? He came up with this whole notion to avoid having to face the bitter truth. It's incredible what the mind does to protect itself from pain. I wish I could come up something like this the next time I get dumped or lose a job or something! Wow, wouldn't that be nice?

5. Secretary (2002). Let's jump forward a year to 2002. James Spader and Maggie Gyllenhaal star in this very strange movie about two people who are definitely a little different. James Spader keeps losing his secretaries due to his deranged, and illegal, behavior. He's lucky he hasn't been sued. Well, then he meets his newest secretary, who actually likes his disturbing actions. The two are apparently meant for each other!

6. Secret Window (2004). Johnny Depp makes a great psychologically disturbed man, Mort Rainey. But what about this other guy who has come to his home? The guy is about to kill him! What should he do? Well, you will never imagine who this man turns out to be, and why he came there in the first place. And, what is this secret window?

7. Gothika (2003). Halle Berry, you are a psychologist. You know the different between emotional sanity and insanity, right? But what about if it starts to affect you? Then what? This movie is about a woman who finds her husband dead, and finds herself accused of the crime!

8. The Notebook (2004). I don't think I could ever grow tired of watching this movie. It's got everything in it that makes for a great romantic movie as well. It's happy, it's sad, it's a little of everything. The main character in this movie is losing her memory due to Alzheimer's disease, and she has written a notebook of everything in her life so that her husband can read it to her so she remembers. This is about the woman's battle with her memory. The movie shows vivid flashbacks of a time when she was young, and truly, truly in love. The greatest part is, her husband is still there with her, even once she starts to lose her memory. It's a painful movie to watch what happens to her, but shows the true meaning of love. Rachel McAdams is great in this film.

9. 50 First Dates (2004). Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore star in this movie about a woman who wakes up each morning forgetting about the day before. Adam Sandler has to try and find a way for Drew to wake up one day and know that she is in love with him. What a challenge!

10. Me, Myself and Irene (2000). Jim Carrey, of course, stars in this movie about a guy with two sides. Which side will we see today? How about an hour from now? Poor Irene, played by Renee Zellweger. What's a woman to do when her guy is this mentally disturbed?
