Craft Blogs with a Punk Twist

The great thing about the internet is there's something for everyone. The bad thing about the internet is sometimes you get search overload and have to sift through so much to find what you want. Hopefully this short guide will help cut some of that searching out.

Craft Blog-Craft Punk Highway - DIY Sleep Mask

The author of this craft blog's username is Ellenod and she is from Florida. She blogs on crafts such as T-Shirt Surgery to pop tab fashion. My favorite though is the Aye, Eye patch(s)!. In this one she shares how she made a really cool sleep mask. This blog doesn't appear to be currently updated regularly, as the last in the archives is 2008. That does not take away the great creative blog that are up and the archives that can be accessed here.

A Grown Up Punk Rock Blog - Indie Crafts

In her blog Laura Henly shows us that you can be punk, you can be crafty and grown up all at once. My favorite blog post of hers can be found here. How awesome to know you can trade in concerts for diapers and be happy about it instead of complaining!

Home Grown Blog - Punk Domestics

This blog has such topics as canning, cheese making, home brewing and so much more! The designer of this site is Sarah Dopp. A fun blog entry was written by punkdomestics called "Yes We Can". This blog entry is all about how food used to be wholesome and healthy and how we've resorted to so many unhealthy alternatives. It also explains how to go back to basics.

Punk Rock Pillows - Phoenix United Craft Society

This great DIY blog has an easy to follow tutorial on how to make a cool punk rock pillow. Very easy to follow along and understand. Other topics on their blogroll are Angry Chicken, Diary of a Bad Housewife, It Is What It Is lississippi and One Wall Kitchen Blog. All fun reads. The authors of this blog are Melississippi, Kat, Wendy, Chris, Alice, and Darenna and you can meet them all on the founding mothers page.

Many Art Craft Blogs Rolled Into One - Etsy's Homemade Blog

The blog on Etsy's Homemade Blog by TeenAngster is interesting to say the least. This is more of an artsy blog with pictures that no words could do justice. Very different, very punk. TeenAngster is otherwise known as Alison Feldmann and is from Brooklyn, New York.

Blog Punk Rock - Punk News

This site details the music end of punk, sorry no crafting here. One blurb I got a real kick out of was called Media: Four tracks from Yuppicide collection posted by Aubin. The band is called Yuppicide and the picture is priceless...remember those huge cell phones?

Blog Punk Rock-Dying Scene - Punk News Site

There are many contributors to this site. The one I picked to browse his blogs was not just a contributor, but builder of the website, named Johnny X . He's from Los Angeles, California. Gathering by his opening blog he's pretty mad that punk went mainstream in the 90's and made money. Definitely a fun read though and a lot of information on some good bands.

Blog Rock - Louisa May Alcott and the Godmother of Punk

Authored simply under the name Gina, this blog is about rocker Patti Smith and her influences. And you guessed it-Louisa May Alcott was one of them. This is a very interesting blog about the influence and changing roles of women.

Craft Blogs - Post Punk Kitchen

I have to say my favorite blog on this site was the Portland Vegan Bake Sale For Haiti (and some thoughts)
January 25th, 2010. It was all about coming together and raising money for the People of Haiti in need. This site has many authors, the list can be seen here and is as the name says-all kitchen.

Craft Blogs - Punk Rock Scrap Booking

Last, but not least we have a really fun entry by Adaena. This was all about librarians gone wild. All for the good of teens though, this blog is all about being punk in your scrap booking. She advises that all goes in the punk style and perfectionism in crafts and DIY is definitely out. I would definitely recommend this blog.

So I don't know about yourself, the reader, but what I found while looking for "Punk Braft Blogs" was quite surprising. Definitely different from the punk I knew in the 1980's. Then again, I guess we all had to grow up sometime.
