Jason Hawes, Grant Wilson, and Steve Gosalves from Ghost Hunters
While some would argue the validity of Ghost Hunters being in the reality T.V. category, I've given it much though, and I think it fits. I like Jason, Grant, and Steve because they are all very serious-minded about what they do. Yes, they like to have fun (especially Steve, when paired with his buddy, Tango,) but they know they craft, and do what they do, well. While they are a bunch of manly men, they show a lot of compassion for the families in whose homes they are investigating. I couldn't just pick one of the guys, because these three are all amazing.
Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum from Project Runway
When it comes to Project Runway, you can't have Tim without Heidi, or Heidi without Tim. Even when Project Runway moved from Bravo to Oxygen, the two both stayed, and I was very appreciative. While I may not always appreciate Heidi's judgment of the contestants' garments, she's a super model, knows fashion, and therefore, probably knows what she is talking about. I definitely prefer her over Nina Garcia. As for Tim Gunn, there's not anything bad I can say about him. He's funny, he's helpful, and he's been plenty compassionate with contestants going through a hard time. I just think he's all-around amazing.
Phil Keoghan from Amazing Race
Admittedly, I've only watched the fourteenth season of Amazing Race, as a man from my church, and his famous son, competed. However, there's just something I liked about Phil Koeghan. I'm not sure if it was just his accent (I adore accents,) but he just drew me in. He had a lot of charisma. Also, I am a bit jealous that he gets to go to all those amazing places in different countries.
Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul from American Idol
Yes, you read correctly. I love Simon Cowell. He is, indeed, harsh, but most of the time, his judgments are not that off. I like that he has the balls to tell someone they're bad. He got a little soft this past season, but that's probably because he was getting death threats or something of the like. He hasn't completely lost his touch, though. I guess that he reminds me a little bit of me.
As for Paula, she's pretty much the opposite. Why do I like her then? I think that sometimes, in some cases, contestants need some encouraging words, instead of Simon's brutal assessments. While I prefer Simon's tactics, Paula is a good complement for the group.
The other two, however, just piss me off, because they say retarded things, and act with inflated egos (ahem... Kara.)
Tom Colicchio and Padma Lakshmi
While both Tom and Padma seem a little bitchy about subpar food that some of the contestants make, they are foodies, and know what they are talking about. I think this rings especially true for Tom, as he has a chain of Craft restraurants. I think that both Padma and Tom judge fairly, and they stand firm when contestants throw hissy fits. I also just like seeing their reactions for some food and explanations of them.
There you have it... my ten favorite reality T.V. hosts. Again, most of them are game shows, but there is a really fine line, and I'd dare to call these reality game shows. As long as they exist, I'll forever be entertained.
