Week 2 saw some amazing feats and since this is a wide receiver pick list I just want to say that the best receiving performance was (drum roll) by a Tight End. Yep Dallas Clark lit up the night with a whopping 183 yard performance against the Miami Dolphins. Alright now back to receiver world we had excellent nights by Andre Johnson, Steve Smith (of the Giants), Vincent Jackson, and a pair of Eli Manning's receivers (the other Steve Smith and Manningham). Not a bad week for some of the top draft picks in the 2009 fantasy draft.
But we seem to be waiting a little too long on a few players. Specifically, the likes of Larry Fitzgerald, Calvin Johnson, and Dwayne Bowe leave much to be desired. They are decent but Megatron at 51 yards and Dwayne Bowe about the same. So for my week 2 picks I got TO, Steve Smith (Eli's), and DeSean Jackson. However, I stunk when I suggested Devin Hester (again), Brandon Marshall, and Santana Moss (Megatron's 51 yards may be anemic for him but it beats Moss's total for the year).
Anyways that leads us into the 2009 best sleeper fantasy football week 3 wide receivers. Whew writing that isn't as bad as saying it. What a mouthful. Remember that I play just like you and the picks below represent my moves as well. So without further adieu I present the picks:
1) Chansi Stuckey - Sure Cotchery will get some decent looks but the game I watched Sanchez had some great chemistry with Stucky. Combine that with the fact that Tennessee has the worst pass defense in the league and you have the prime opportunity for Mr. New York to shine. As a side note, I coined the Mr. New York and I believe Sanchez is the exact opposite of the other Mr. New York (also known as Mr. Grumpy Pants Eli). I mean I even saw Sanchez crack a smile, which Eli hasn't done since high school. On another note, am I the only one who thinks Eli and Jay Cutler look alike?
2) Steve Smith and Steve Smith - They both have excellent matchups and are both quarterback favorites. I expect both of the two to post similar numbers. Seriously I think 100+ yards and a touchdown each isn't out of the question.
3) Marquis Colston - Shootout at the OK Corral. Buffalo and New Orleans should provide plenty of fireworks as Trent Edwards and Drew Brees attempt to outduel each other. It might seem lopsided at first but Edwards is just getting comfortable. I expect Brees to go to Colston early and often.
4) TO - Terrell Owens will be the Buffalo wide out to own when the gunfight goes down. New Orleans and Buffalo rank near last on passing defense. I predict TO will see his first multi-TD game as Edwards looks to show the fans that bringing TO to Buffalo was the right choice.
5) Andre Johnson - Not that you would ever sit him but I just want to reiterate he will repeat from last week's stunning performance. I see another 2 TDs and a crap ton of yardage. So far Andre is beating Calvin in the battle of the Johnsons. Stay tuned.
