Top Ten Slow Dance Prom Songs

Queen Jane
When you think about it, prom is a very gaudy affair. From oversized, overpriced gowns, to huge up-dos and flower arrangements, everything is flashy and sparkly. It's supposed to be a night to remember. Thinking back, what I remember most about school dances and prom is when the slow dance song came on and everyone suddenly had to find someone to dance with. It was a really big thing. The music at prom is not supposed to be sophisticated. It's dance music that allows teenagers overflowing with hormones, and God knows what else, to jump around and try to impress the opposite sex. The slow dance songs are no exception. They are supposed to be cheesy ballads you can sway to, pelvis to pelvis, ha ha. So here are the essentials no prom should be without:

1. I'll Make Love To You - Boyz II Men

Ooh, racy! The chaperones are going to get very nervous about enforcing that six inch rule.

2. Back At One - Brian McKnight

This is the perfect song for prom.

3. You Got It Bad - Usher

Another song that is perfect for teenagers with all their drama.

4. Truly Madly Deeply - Savage Garden

This song is very passionate and the right tempo for slow dancing.

5. Time After Time - Cyndi Lauper

A classic.

6. Hero - Enrique Iglesias

Who doesn't want a hero? This is a chance for the guys to be macho.

7. I Want To Know What Love Is - Foreigner

For all those planning to lose their virginity shortly after the dancing ceases.

8. Babe - Styx

Very cheesy and promlike, and "old" so therefore a classic.

9. You're Still The One - Shania Twain

My prom played a lot of country music and this was my favorite.

10. Take My Breath Away - Berlin

The ultimate to express those deep feelings of love and longing :-)
