Top Ten Songs by Type O Negative

Dallas Bolen
I have been a Type O Negative fan since 1991, when I was introduced to their first album, Slow, Deep and Hard. This metal band from Brooklyn, New York is primarily a goth metal band, but at times they incorporate doom and thrash metal into their unique sound. This is a list of what I feel to be the top ten Type O Negative songs of all time.

10. Black No. 1 from the 1993 album Bloody Kisses. This song is a Type O Negative classic that refers to a haircolor (natural blue black) that was very popular with the goth crowd in 1993.

9. Cinnamon Girl from the October Rust album that was released in 1996. I had to include this one for the Iguana. Since I introduced him to Type O Negative, he can't get enough of this song.

8. My Girlfriend's Girlfriend from the 1996 October Rust album. If you thought that goth metal could not possible sound happy, you should listen to this Type O Negative song at least one time.

7. Everything Dies, also from the 1996 October Rust album. I love the lyrics as well as the pace of this song. It kind of backs up the "It is what it is" philosophy.

6. Love You To Death, from the Least Worst of 2000 album. This is the epitome of a goth love song...really, it was one of the many Type O Negative songs played at my wedding reception.

5. Angry Inch from the 2003 release of the Life is Killiing Me album. This is a very fast and angry song that I find perfectly hysterical. It never fails to put me in a good mood.

4. Dead Again from the 2007 Type O Negative album of the same name. This song is another goth metal great from Type O Negative.

3. Halloween in Heaven from the 2007 Dead Again album. The addition of vocals courtesy of Tara Vanflower makes this Type O Negative song very sexy.

2. September Sun from Dead Again, 2007. You can really tell when one of the Type O Negative band members has it bad for a girl, of course their love songs always involve death, but that is life, right?

1. Profits of Doom from Dead Again, 2007. This is by far the best Type O Negative Song of all time. The Iguana and I agree on this one. I love the line "My soul is on fire". Profits of Doom alone is reason enough to purchase the Dead Again cd.

As this list shows, Type O Negative just improves with age, and I personally can't wait for the next release.
