Top Ten Songs by Weezer

J Hoff
Both praised and criticized, Weezer is one of those bands that are loved or hated. The band released their selftitled debut album in 1994, and driven by the single "Buddy Holly" (not to mention the video), the album did very well. The follow up, Pinkerton, released in 1996, was far less successful, despite being critically acclaimed as well as being a fan favorite.

Weezer has released four albums since Pinkerton, with the last being their third selftitled album, released in 2008.

Weezer's top ten songs

10. In The Garage / Weezer
A "nerdy" song that is among the songs that stand out more on Weezer's first album. Definitely a good one.

9. This Is Such A Pity / Make Believe
I personally don't like much of the later things Weezer did and this song is perhaps on the list more to create some balance. One of the few songs on Make Believe that I like. It has some of the old Weezer feeling, although it does sound updated.

8. Tired Of Sex / Pinkerton
One of the songs where Rivers Cuomo is essentially just complaining, although in a humorous way. The song is as dark as Pinkerton gets.

7. No One Else / Weezer.
This song is a little bit similar to the things on Pinkerton, only without all the distortion. One of Weezer's many catchy song.

6. Say It Ain't So / Weezer
One of Rivers Cuomo's many well-written songs. The song jumps between calm verses and heavy choruses, which strengthens the impact of the chorus. A song that defines Weezer's first album.

5. Across The Sea / Pinkerton
What made Pinkerton great was that it was partly based on the truth. This song is one of those that touches the truth. The song tells the story about a japanese girl that wrote a letter to Rivers. While this part of the story is true, the remaining parts are made up (or imagined).

4. The Greatest Man That Ever Lived / Red Album
This song is weird, but in a good way. There are many different elements, and is very different from what Weezer used to do. Cuomo is far more diverse a band than what their biggest hits indicates, however.

3. Pink Triangle / Weezer
There are a lot of love songs around, but there are very few songs where the subject falls in love with a lesbian. Rivers Cuomo sings about that on "Pink Triangle".

2. The Good Life / Pinkerton
About as catchy as "Buddy Holly" and among the best songs written in the early 1990s. The song never got the reception it deserved (my guess is that it was ahead of its time).

1. Buddy Holly / Weezer
Buddy Holly was great and so was the song. Hated by many, loved by many.
