Top Ten USA Vacation Spots! Where Should You Travel?

Places You Just Have to Experience in the USA Before You Die!

John Barnett
A rather out of touch acquaintance of mine once stubbornly claimed travel was so important that one should simply 'save every other paycheck' until they could afford a vacation. As laughable a concept as it is to simply save half a month's income, she did have at least one valid point. Travel can be a wonderful experience. Why not see some sights and build some memories by hitting a few of the United State's greatest vacation spots?

1. Las Vegas
- Nevada

In a lot of ways, Las Vegas is less than a city and more a giant, cheap buffet attached to a casino. When you visit you can take in a show, gamble on cards or slots, lounge with friends or family, or just enjoy the bright neon lights. Just make sure you ration your funds or your vacation will be over before you realize it...

2. Mammoth Cave
- Kentucky

A tour of Mammoth Cave can be an extremely surreal venture. As a teenager I visited and witnessed the wonders of the immense network of underground caves with my family on vacation. If you want to experience the absolute silence, pitch black atmosphere, and unimaginable stillness of the mysterious Mammoth Caves, head straight for Kentucky.

3. The Winchester Mansion
- California

Also making the list out of merit gained by surreal, otherworldly themes- the mysterious Winchester Mansion. Built by the frightened widow of the Winchester Rifle inventor, the mansion was built to abate the spirits of those killed by the firearm. A medium convinced her that if she ever stopped building on the home, she would die. The result of her $5.5 million investment?

A maze-like mansion vacation spot with over 160 rooms, almost 50 fireplaces, 40 bedrooms, 10,000 windows, and an endless array of secret passages. Doors that lead to nowhere, doors that leave to fatal falls, hallways that reach dead-ends, windows over brick, ghostly whispers, fleeting images, and the title of 'most mysterious home' is a sure thing. Should you visit the manor- make sure you don't get lost.

4. Disneyworld
- Florida

I'd feel guilty not mentioning the US's most famous theme park. Seeing Mickey, Minnie, and Donald waving and dancing around park rides is a milestone for the lives of many children. If you have little Disney fans or you yourself grew up with Disney, do yourself a favor and visit Disneyworld.

5. Nickelodeon Suites Resort
- Florida

While not as renowned as Disneyworld, Nickelodeon has done a fantastic job with their own theme park in Florida. Be sure to check out one of the gigantic pools, play some of the games, meet some Nickelodeon stars, and to get slimed while you're there!

6. The Grand Canyon
- Arizona

Your existence really gets put into perspective when you're staring into the immense abyss of the Grand Canyon. It may not be the most exciting spot, but it certainly is awe-inspiring.

7. Nintendo Store
- New York

For most gamers, the New York Nintendo Store is something of a gaming Mecca. Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Metroid, Kirby, Donkey Kong, and so many other facets of gaming goodness await! Every corner of the Nintendo Store is packed with toys, games, apparel, and so much more- all with Nintendo, Super Nintendo, N64, Gamecube, and Wii themes! If only there were others in the US...

8. Statue of Liberty
- New York

Not the most exciting vacation spot, but certainly among the most breath-taking. Many don't realize the immense achievement of not only the statue itself, but her transportation to the US. It's worth meeting Lady Liberty at least once in a lifetime.

9. Yellowstone National Park
- Wyoming (parts of Idaho & Montana as well)

Considered by some to be the greatest safe haven for nature left in the US, Yellowstone is an inspiring region of various ecosystems, wildlife, and remnants of times long forgotten by mankind. Stop in and take in the beautiful sights, sounds, and experiences of the reserve. Check out the Caldera super-volcano, the famous geyser 'Old Reliable', and Yellowstone lake! Just make sure you keep an eye out for grizzly bears and wolf packs while you're there!

10. Honolulu
- Hawaii

How could one not end with the classic vacation spot? Who doesn't want to spend their vacation lounging on a beach in Honolulu with a coconut, bendy straw, and little umbrella?
