Top Ten Videos on YouTube: "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman"

I will admit that one of my favorite shows of all time is "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman". It focuses on the timeless romance, with a few villains thrown in for good measure. Oh, and superpowers, of course.

There are a number of Lois and Clark videos on YouTube. When searching, one will find not only videos from the show, but also from other incarnations of the two. All of the ones below are based on the 1990s television show. The top 10 videos on YouTube, I believe are:

10. The video "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree" uses the song by Alvin and the Chipmunks to show us some of our favorite Christmas scenes from the show. My favorites come from the Season 2 Christmas episode, Seasons Greedings. The substance inside the Atomic Space Rats makes everyone into greedy children giving the actors some great moments. The video is by LaneandKent79 and can be found at: youtube.com/watch

9. Mayson Drake is not a favorite among many fans of the show, if for no other reason than she served to keep everyone's favorite couple apart. Sch4tj3 seems to have liked the character and made a video with a song by Evanescence, "My Last Breath". This person did spell Mayson wrong, but otherwise, it does almost make me feel sorry for her and her untimely death. I never did like that she found out 'the big secret' before Lois did, even if it was practically with her dying breath. She was in love with a man - Clark Kent - who could never love her back because his heart already belonged to Lois Lane. And she didn't like Superman. Maybe she really was crazy. And her dying interrupted the kiss between Lois and Clark. That's enough to drive any shipper mad! The video is found at: youtube.com/watch

8. This video chronicles the romance between Lois and Clark during the series. Many of the scenes come from Season 2 and beyond as the two grow closer together. It focuses more on the building and budding relationship that eventually results in marriage (not shown) rather than the trials and tribulations. You can feel that Clark wants Lois to truly know who he is - superpowers and all - but that he doesn't, or can't, let the rest of the world know who the real Clark Kent/Superman is. The song is "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls. The video is by darcylvr4 and can be found at: youtube.com/watch

7. This video by NoOneElse features the song "Just For" by Nickelback. It focuses on some of the great moments between Clark Kent, A. K. A. Superman, and his arch nemesis, Lex Luthor. Lex Luthor is played by the fabulous John Shea, who does evil so well. We see moments between the two where Clark Kent or Superman has the upper hand as well as times where Lex is almost able to take out the Man of Steel. Lois is featured only in the background of this video that shows so well the rivalry between the two men, not just for her affections but for control of the universe. Clark Kent doesn't want to control the world himself, but he certainly isn't going to let Luthor do it either. Untalented Productions presented the video. The author currently goes by Cape Fetish, apparently having been persuaded that her previous nick "Jessi Untalented" from her other videos is just plain not accurate. She is quite talented and I look forward to more videos by her. This video is found at: www.youtube.com/watch

6. Superman is invincible. Or so most people believe. There is very little, physically, that can harm him, but all the evil villains certainly try anyway. This video focuses on the almost immortalness of Superman, truly challenged only by Kryptonite and the evil New Kryptonians from the end of Season 3 and the beginning of Season 4. The affects of Red Kryptonite are shown as well as the effect of a Green Kryptonite bullet - and how quickly Superman recovers. Clark Kent, and even Lois Lane, are given only passing "mention" in this video almost exclusively about Superman. The song is "Invincible" by OK Go. The video is by Jessi Untalented (NoOneElse on YouTube), before changing her moniker to Cape Fetish. The video is found at: www.youtube.com/watch

5. If there's one thing Lois and Clark will never be accused of doing it's taking the easy way out. Even with Superman and his powers at their disposal, things are often difficult. They fight and argue, walk out on each other, slam doors in each other's faces, but somehow they always make up. The wonderful video chronicles their hard times and ends with Clark's proposal at the end of Season 2. The fact that he hasn't told Lois his little secret... well, that's just one more hard time they'll have to work through. The music is "The Hard Way" by Keith Urban and the video is by Cape Fetish (YouTube ID is NoOneElse). It can be found at: www.youtube.com/watch

4. A friend pointed me to a Lois and Clark message board with a thread on motivational posters - like the kind you would find on Successories - only focused solely on Lois and Clark. I'm sure some of them were inside jokes for those involved in making them and commenting, but most were ones anyone would get. One poster, supercarotte on YouTube, took a large number of these posters and set them to music from the television show. They do go by very quickly, but are worth looking at. A quick pause on some of the ones with longer phrases, etc. will help. The posters can be found at www.lcficmbs.com under the "Lois and Clark" forum. The video is found at: www.youtube.com/watch

3. Let's face it. Clark Kent of "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" is supposed to be a fairly intelligent guy, but he comes up with some of the lamest excuses when he needs to run out and perform his superhero duties. The video, "How Many Excuses Can A Guy Have", is a montage of some of the best of those. There's a late video, the Cheese of the Month Club shipment - my personal favorite - errands to run, and, of course, police to call. For a guy who we never see get sick, he needs a lot of prescriptions. Even after Lois finds out the big secret, the excuses need a lot of work. Apparently, sharing the knowledge made it harder for him to come up with good reasons to head out on a rescue. Some of the ones he and Lois come up with are shaky at best. It was very interesting to see of these excuses all put together in one place. The video is by ADUProductions and can be found at: youtube.com/watch

2. This video shows us how our favorite superhero tries to keep his identity from the one person he longs to tell the most. The most wonderful part of the video is how the creator intersperses the two scenes that finally make Lois realize the two men are one and the same. Clark cradles her face in his hand as she prepares to be frozen by Superman to save his parents. In the seconds before he freezes her, Superman does the same thing and that's when she realizes that Superman is in fact, Clark Kent. One of my favorite clips from the show is played at the end, when Tempus - an evil villain from the future - tells Lois the secret. The scene is wonderful and, after going 'back to the future' having saved a baby Clark from the evil time traveler, Lois doesn't remember any of it. This sets up for the wonderful revelation at the end of Season 2. The song is "Dirty Little Secret" by The All American Rejects. The video is by ashcro85 and can be found at: www.youtube.com/watch

1. When you're a reporter who is prone to "dangle over the jaws of death" on a regular basis, it's always good to have a guardian angel. This video shows us Lois Lane's angel - a mild-mannered reporter named Clark Kent and a superhero named Superman. The two, of course, are one and the same and either would do anything to protect Lois Lane. It takes Lois some time to realize that Clark is the one she wants and he does it by being there for her, by protecting her and by comforting her when she needs it most. The song is "Your Guardian Angel" by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. The video is by NoOneElse, who at this time is going by Jessi Untalented (later known as Cape Fetish.). The video is found at: www.youtube.com/watch
