Movies About Brides, Bachelor Parties and Weddings

What are the issues and comic events surrounding weddings? There are all kinds. Perhaps you have a bachelor party and your wife to be thinks you are hooking up with the entertainer. Maybe you got drunk and found yourself married. It could be that you are trying to stop someone from getting married. Whatever the case may be, there are plenty of interesting and funny movies about weddings. This article will show you ten wedding movies.

1. What Happens in Vegas (2008). This is my favorite pick for a wedding movie. It's the familiar story, where two people in Vegas get drunk and wake up the next morning realizing they got married. Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz make this a funny romantic comedy. Their antics of trying to get the money that was won the night before from the other lead to their actually realizing maybe their wedding choice wasn't such a bad one.

2. Just Married (2003). Ashton Kutcher makes the top two wedding movies. This is interesting, because you probably would never consider him the movie marriage type. This is why both of his top two wedding movies are so funny. This movie also stars Brittany Murphy, and is about the honeymoon following the wedding of a young couple. Everything goes wrong, and makes the two wonder if they should have even married each other. Will love prevail? Or will an exboyfriend or interested foreign girl intervene?

3. Runaway Bride (1999). Richard Gere and Julia Roberts come together again, after their brilliant performances in Pretty Woman, to give us another movie about growing as a person. Julia Roberts once again comes from a place where she has issues within, and tries to resolve them so she won't have to run from the groom at another wedding. I like this movie because it is about personal growth, but also has an interesting plot. Julia Roberts is the runaway bride, who just can't stick around long enough for the wedding.

4. The Bachelor (1999). So what do you do if your girlfriend turns down your wedding proposal? And, to make things worse, what do you do if a stipulation in your recently passed grandfather's will says you have to be married by age 30 or you will forfeit your inheritance (and you turn 30 in like two days)? Wow, imagine the pressure of either talking your girlfriend into the marriage, or finding a different bride!

5. Bachelor Party (1984). Bachelor Party stars Tom Hanks and Tawny Kitaen, as a couple about to get married. The ultimate bachelor party is about to ensue. Having doubts about what might go on at the bachelor party, Tawny Kitaen's character sets out to dress up like a stripper and crash the party to see what's going on. The problem is, Tom Hanks' character pretends he doesn't know it's her when she arrives, and sets out to make out with her in the bedroom. You can imagine how much trouble he's in.

6. The Wedding Date (2005). Debra Messing and Dermot Mulroney star in this wedding movie. Debra Messing needs a date to her sister's wedding. She knows her exfiance' will be there, and she wants him to think she's doing well after he dumped her. All kinds of surprises are about to develop, such as her finding out her sister was having an affair with her exfiance' while they were still together. The great thing is, this guy she hired to be her date through an escort service actually turns out to be a nice guy. But will she ruin things with him by worrying about her past instead of letting in the future?

7. The Wedding Planner (2001). Jennifer Lopez stars as the wedding planner in this movie. She is about to plan the wedding of a new couple, when she realizes the groom is a guy she met and became interested in just recently. She tries to be professional and plan the wedding without emotional interference, but this guy is just so great. What is she going to do? Matthew McConaughey stars as the groom to be.

8. My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002). Nia Vardalos and John Corbett star in this wedding movie about a Greek girl who goes against her family's wishes and plans to marry a guy who is not Greek. This is about a Greek family having to accept a guy who is not Greek as being their new son-in-law. John Corbett loves his bride to be so much that he is willing to convert to the Greek Orthodox faith. You can imagine all of the antics that ensue in this romantic comedy.

9. Wedding Crashers (2005). I find this movie meaningful because the two stars, the wedding crashers, are actually divorce mediators, which is what I do for a living currently. It's funny that two professionals can then act the way these two do by crashing wedding parties trying to get dates. Everyone knows the best place to get a woman is at a wedding, right? This movie is hilarious, and stars Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn.

10. My Best Friend's Wedding (1997). Julia Roberts and Dermot Mulroney are best friends. They talk about everything. Well, for a little while, they actually haven't caught up. Imagine Julia Robert's surprise when Dermot calls her and tells her that he is about to get married, to Cameron Diaz's character in the movie. Julia Roberts' character always thought it would be her who became the bride, and now she sets out to ruin the relationship between the two so she can have back her best friend, whom apparently she has more feelings for than she was willing to admit.

Great list of films. I haven't seen all of these. I loved Four Weddings and a Funeral, it would fit on this list. Nice job.
