Linda M. McCloud
Like many other people, I am beginning to think about my upcoming goals for 2007. One major goal I have is to advance in my career, my writing career. Yes, I love being a writer here on Associated Content. But I want to be published at many more places. I want to have my work read in magazines, both online and in the printed form and of course my biggest dream is to see my novel in print someday. To develop this goal into reality, I decided to check out some of the articles here on Associated Content about writing. I want and need to learn about this craft more. The following are what I considered to be the top 10 writing AC content for 2006. If you are wanting to learn more about writing and how to develop your skills, I am sure you will like these articles as much as I did.

1. The three C's of writing. This article was written by Desire' M. Henricks and was published on March 8, 2006.

In this article Desire' points out the three requirements for effective writing.

2. 4 Small Publishers that Accept Romance Novels. This article was written by Rachel Pickett and was published on January 31, 2006.

This article was of interest to me because romance is my genre of choice. I also am currently without an agent. The places she lists will work with authors who are not represented by an agent. A big plus.

3. How to get published. This article was written by Heather Wood and was published on August 31, 2006.

Heather offers some useful tips. The main one being that you have to put out the effort or you will never get published.

4. Writing advice: So you want to be a writer? This article was written by Michy and was published on June 21, 2006.

I liked this article because it was straight forwarded. It is a good read for someone just thinking about becoming a writer.

5. Finding a Literary Agent. This article was written by Kessa Baylor and was published on December 15, 2006.

This article explains what an agent can do for a writer and gives some tips on how a writer can go about finding one to represent him or her.

6. Interview with Diana Murphy a NYC Literary Agent. This article was written by Kay Reynolds and was published on March 13, 2006.

This article was informative because the interviewer (Kay) asked some really good questions. I did learn a lot from the answers Ms. Murphy gave.

7. Submit your Book via the Web. This article was written by Steven Browning and was published on November 6, 2006.

In this article, Steven reminds us that there is a lot of scams out there and with the computer age, there are even more scams. We have to use our common sense when sending out writing samples.

8. Writer's Guide to Paying Markets. This article was written by Misti Sandefur and was published on December 20, 2006.

Like a lot of writers, I do use the internet to try to find paying writing jobs. Her article gave me some good advice on how to do my next search.

9. Writers Market Guideline Resources. This article was written by lori voth and was published on September 18, 2006.

Many of these resources I didn't know. The more resources a writer has the better his/her odds are of finding a place that will publish his/her works.

10. Researching the Markets: How to sell your writing. This article was written by Lolaness and was published on March 15, 2006.

Okay, I have read a lot of advice. I have learned a few things. I may be ready. I am definitely going to put out that effort. Hopefully, with this new year I will be selling more of my writing work and you will be seeing my name more. Wish me luck.
