Top Ten New Years Resolutions Moms Can and will Keep for 2009

Summer Saldana
Moms, it's that time of the year. We've tired of our old ways. No more will the tattered beaten down mom continue down the road she is going. No! (shout it with me!) Now is the time we will set up the loftiest goals for 2009 in hopes that we will do better and be better. Bear with me because it's time to aim high. Now place your right hand over your favorite kind of chocolate (or wine), and repeat after me:

Top Ten Resolutions Moms Can and Will Keep in 2009

1. When I say No, I will mean No. No! You may not drive me crazy with your incessant whining! NOW STOP!!!

2. I will stop yelling. See above. I will instead talk sternly. Now! Stop!

3. I will get those 10 pounds of baby weight off, even if my child is now 15. It's better late than never, they say. Let's make it more realistic. We'll say 5. 5 (pounds or oz...whatever works) before they're 20.

4. My kids will eat healthier. McDonald's will only be served once every other day. Actually, how about one meal a day instead of two?

5. I will not hide in the bathroom with the door locked when I need a time out. Instead I will go into the bedroom where at least there is a bed.

6. I will not allow my child to sit in front of the TV all day. Instead there will be a new limit of 6 hours. 8 is far too much.

7. I will do something special for myself every single day. I will shower. Every other day I mean. Let's get crazy and even shave once a week.

8. I will become more organized. Rather than one big pile of messes, I will set up individual piles for each person in the family. And then I will even go as far as to place those piles on the stairs in hopes that one day someone will take them up.

9. I will cook more. Rather than microwave the frozen chicken nuggets, I will bake them in the oven. Toaster Oven. Same thing, right?

10. I will spend more time with my husband. I think we'll start with the dishes. Instead of doing them alone, we can do them together! He will do them, and I will make sure he does them right.

See? Like I said, aiming high.

We are women! Hear us ROAR!

Here's to 2009. Cheers!
