December 2010 - Released Gitmo detainees go back to terrorist activities:
A National Intelligence report to Congress states that at least 14 percent of the terrorists released from the Gitmo detention facility during the Obama administration have gone back to planning terrorist attacks against the United States.
That percentage may not sound high, but according to the Washington Times report, that's 150 of the 598 released. Of those confirmed to be active in terrorism again, over 80 are still out in society. Some have died in fighting or been re-captured.
October 2010 - Al Qaeda kills Christians and police in Iraqi church stand-off, threatening more Christian deaths:
Al Qaeda took nearly 100 hostages inside an Iraqi Catholic church, and an unsuccessful attempt by police to rescue them ended in the death of an estimated 40 worshippers and some police officers, totaling 52 innocent deaths.
Al Qaeda members blew up their vests or threw grenades. Other hostages died due to being caught in crossfire between the police and the terrorist attackers.
Reuters reported that the Al Qaeda group claiming responsibility then proceeded to issue a threat against Egyptian Christian churches and other Christians everywhere.
UPDATE: A December 30, 2010 AP report states Al Qaeda has carried out six attacks on homes of Iraqi Christians near Baghdad in December alone, and killed at least two people.

August 2010 - Taliban kills 10 medical aid workers in Afghanistan:
The Taliban proudly claimed responsibility for murdering ten medical workers in Afghanistan's Hindu Kush mountains. The group, including American, Afghan and British workers, was bringing aid such as eye care to remote villages for The International Assistance Mission.
The New York Times reported that the ten were captured together and killed execution-style. The Taliban stated they killed them for being spies and/or Christian preachers.
August 2010 - Attack against Iraqi Forces the deadliest since 2003:
AP News reported that terrorist bombers and gunmen killed at least 56 members of Iraqi police security forces in at least a dozen attacks in August alone.
It came one day after the U.S. government announced to the world that our number of troops in Iraq was lower than at any time since 2003. It appears the terrorists took advantage of that fact.
June 2010 - Extreme rise in jihad-related violence in Afghanistan in first half of 2010:
The Tampa Tribune (June 20, p. 5) cited a U.N. report stating a 94 percent increase in roadside bombings and a 45 percent increase in assassinations of government officials within the first half of 2010. Combined with other types of attacks, the total doubled 2009's violence in Afghanistan.
The U.N. report came out on June 19. On June 20, the Obama administration formally announced the pullout of all troops from Afghanistan by July 2011. According to an AP report , this came against the advice of top U.S. military generals.
August 2010 - Hamas murders four Israelis from Jewish settlement:
On the eve of peace talks in Washington, D.C., four Israelis including a pregnant woman were murdered by Hamas attackers while driving in a car near Hebron in the West Bank. According to a Washington Post report on the incident , the four were residents of an Israeli Jewish settlement, Beit Hagai.
Hamas considers Beit Hagai to be in territory which is illegal for such settlements. However, it was built in 1984, years before a 1995 Oslo agreement to stop building Israeli settlements in areas of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Many readers may recall the internal fighting between Israeli parties about whether or not to dismantle already existing settlements.
August 2010 - Pregnant Afghan woman accused of adultery, killed by Taliban:
In Kabul (under control of a Taliban provincial government), a widow accused of committing adultery that left her pregnant was automatically sentenced to death by shooting. There was no trial. According to CNN, the woman was whipped 200 times, a district governor approved the shooting, and a Taliban commander fatally shot the woman in the head.
July 2010 - TIME Magazine features Afghan woman with mutilated nose after Taliban punishment:
TIME's managing editor, Richard Stengel, explained the use of the horrific photo and feature stories about Taliban treatment of women in Afghanistan (see above link). This 18-year-old girl's mutilation was used, with her permission, as an example of what can happen to women when they try to escape from oppressive Taliban terrorist regulations over women.
Various dates in 2010 - President Obama has received harsh criticism from many parties for what they consider his refusal to acknowledge "extreme Islamic terrorism":
Of course, most of these reports only remain visible for the long haul in media venues considered "right wing." These are combined below with some sources which readers may have trouble refuting:
-The Washington Times documented that the Obama administration's various Homeland Security Department reports make no mention of Islamic extremism, although some classify "Jewish extremism" and "Christian extremism" as threats to the U.S.
-Senator Joe Lieberman voiced his opinion in a Fox News exclusive stating the Obama administration should stop its practice of omitting words like "extreme Islamic terrorism" from security reports. Lieberman viewed the practice as offensive and hurtful to our relationship with the rest of the Muslim world.
-The Canada Free Press, which has as its motto "Because without America, there is no free world," called President Obama softer on Islamic terrorists than on domestic terrorists in an article titled "Obama's pro-terror Security Plan."
-The Center for Security Policy, a group of national security experts who've worked for both Republican and Democratic presidents, issued a report in which they call out President Obama and others in his administration for not considering Shariah Law a threat to America. The CSP report, "Shariah: The Threat to America," calls Islam's Shariah law the largest threat of our times.
This CSP committee didn't consist of partisan politicians, but of people who may know something about defending a country. It was headed by Lt. General William G. Boykin, US Army (Ret.), Former Deputy Undersecretary Of Defense For Intelligence, and Lt. General Harry Edward Soyster, US Army (Ret.), Former Director, Defense Intelligence Agency.
Others on the Committee included: Ambassador Henry Cooper, former Director, Strategic Defense Initiative; Stephen C. Coughlin, Esq., Major (Res.) USA, former Senior Consultant, Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; R. James Woolsey, former Director of Central Intelligence; and Joseph E. Schmitz, former Inspector General, Department of Defense.

Post a CommentGreat article! 5*
A sad but unfortunate scenario that is being played out. May God give wisdom to our leaders and officials.
Awesome work Sheryl.
Awesome work:)
Unlike the last article, I've actually heard of some of these. It doesn't make them any less irritating though. Great job as usual, Sheryl.
I swear Obama is a plant and not from our country. Don't even get me started here. How can anyone release terrorists and live with themselves?
You're right, many of these situations did not receive sufficient mainstream media coverage - I didn't even know about some of them.
Scary indeed - Great report!
What a great review of terrorist news nobody's heard. Are we surprised? Certainly, about the atrocity of terrorist activity, but not about the fact that the mainstream media reports none of it. Makes one wonder what else they don't report.
You did a beautiful job reporting this. Very sad that there's so much unrest in the world.
