Top Three Alternative Energy Websites

Phillip Chan
For the latest news on green fuels, alternative energy and environmentally-friendly solutions power, check out these top three websites. From university organizations, blogs and Federal alternative energy labs, these websites cover the major topics of interest. Biofuels, biogas, solar, wind and more are all featured here, with hope for a greener future.

The National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium (NAFTC)
Website: http://www.naftc.wvu.edu
Based out of the famous West Virginia University, the National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium boasts to be one of the only alternative energy vehicle training center in the entire United States. Thanks probably to the skilled web design guru's at WVU, the NAFTC website is slick and polished, with a great section dedicated soley to EPA fact sheets. These fact sheets offer a huge range of data on many different popular alternative energy sources, including biodiesel, ethanol, propane, methanol and so on. Other information on Fuel economy and the properties (in-depth) of various types of alternative fuels is also listed and linked on this website. Be sure to check out their "Clean Cities" learning program drive and the different curricula offered under their program!

Alternative Energy News (AE News)
Website: http://www.alternative-energy-news.info
Alternative-Energy News combines a nice, eye catching web site design with the latest news and updates on all things related to alternative energy. The focus is certainly not limited to the United States, with attention paid to both the local and international markets and advances in alternative energy projects. It does feature a little more Google Ads than most would deem necessary, but the abundance of news really makes up for this. They have a large Facebook following with over 60,000 fans, quite an accomplishment! Videos are also occasionally posted, detailing new updates in the field of alternative energy.

National Renewable Energy Labs (NREL)
Website: http://www.nrel.gov
NREL has been vital in the continued support, education and research into alternative energy and fuel sources. One very interesting study and subsequent report put out by NREL was on the possibility of using algae for biofuel, mostly for biodiesel production. It's one of the most in-depth looks at the topic of such biofuel cultivation and harvest, definitely worth looking into for those interested in that line of alternative energy research and design. The overview of the recent Algae Biomass Summit, held in Phoenix, Arizona, will also be of interest. NREL is the only federal laboratory dedicated to the alternative energy study and research. NREL is really the "powerhouse" behind much of the heavy research into this country's use of alternative fuels and their website hosts loads of useful data for this interested in this budding area of environmental growth.
