Top Three Bars, Pubs and Grilles in Murray, Kentucky

Picking out the top three bars in Murray, Kentucky was a very simple task. Murray is a rural community in Western Kentucky and there isn't a large amount to choose from here. We have Murray State University, a large retirement sector and about a handful of stop lights. The community has grown over the years but until fairly recently it was still a dry county. However as with anything times change and we do have restaurants that are allowed to serve by drink now, but no packaged liquor establishments.

Therefore when challenged with listing the top three bars in Murray, I just took one look around and grabbed the cream of the crop.

1. Applebee's Restaurant is located at 816 North 12th Street or Hwy 641 N and has been one of our favorite eateries in town. They were really one of the first restaurants that came after liquor by the drink was passed. Applebee's has a great welcoming atmosphere with a really friendly staff and small bar area. Everyone loves the food and they make the best Pina Colada's in town. Applebee's is open from 11AM to Midnight daily and for more information and directions call 270-759-5551. www.applebees.com

2. Nick's Bar and Grill is a sport's pub in Murray, which is located at 616 N 12th St or Hwy 641 North. Nick's has a great college following and being just off campus is the local hangout for the college crowd, as well as the sports enthusiasts. They have a game area, great food and nice private dining areas for big groups. Nick's has a lot of specials and of course being a sport's pub is known for everything from beer to wings. I love the loud party type atmosphere but it's still a place you will see families. Nick's is open from 11AM until Midnight but you should call 270-762-0022 for more information. www.nicksmurray.com/menu.htm

3. The Big Apple Cafe is bar and grill type establishment, which is located just around the corner from Nick's at 1005 Arcadia Circle. The Apple as most people refer to it, is a extremely laid back and happening place. The Apple is just off campus and has a regular clientele. Typically on any given night you will find most of the older crowd hanging out there, with a lot of locals making it there number favorite stop after work. Occasionally they have live music on the weekends, and you can usually find a lot of drink specials. The serve a wide array of things but most people when asked will say they are noted for their bean rolls or chili. The laid back atmosphere makes it a perfect dress down place for anyone getting off work to hang out with friends and have a beer. The Apple is open Monday - Saturday from 11am - Mid and for more information and directions call 270-759-8866. www.bigapplemurray.com

I have lived around Murray for most of my life and all three of these establishments are within walking distance. Murray is a great community and although we don't have a lot of places for entertainment, these three restaurant bars are top notch establishments that we can be proud to have.
