Guide to Finding a Great Burger in B-Town

Have a hankering for a good burger? Whether it be an all-American cheeseburger, buffalo burger, or even a vegetarian burger, you are sure to find something to satisfy your craving in Bloomington, Indiana.

For a variety of burger options, try out Yogi's Grill and Bar. They offer a vegetarian black bean burger, the famous buffalo burger, and a mushroom Swiss burger, as well as your normal 1/3 pound cheeseburger with your choice of provolone, Swiss, Velveeta, cheddar, or pepper jack cheese. Located near campus at 519 E. 10th, it's also a great place for entertainment. Pass the time with foosball, Golden Tee Golf, or one of their touch screen "Megatouch" games. It's a perfect place to catch the game on one of their 32 HDTVs. With three satellites, they are able to show any game, any time.

BuffaLouie's is another place in Bloomington that makes a mean burger. Located at 114 S. Indiana Avenue, it's known for it's wings and assortment of delicious sauces. Don't let this deter you though. Their Gables Burger, with Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, avocado and ranch dressing will not be a disappointment. To get a taste of their famous wings on a burger, try the Sweet Lou Burger. Grilled with the famous sweet barbeque sauce and topped with cheese, bacon, and a beer-battered onion ring, this burger will definitely become one of your favorites. The comfortable, friendly atmosphere makes it a great place to meet friends for dinner and drinks.

Opie Taylor's is one of my personal favorites. Tucked amidst the quaint shops of Bloomington's downtown square, it's a great place to meet up and watch the game or stop for lunch while shopping downtown. They have an amazing menu, with a whopping twenty varieties of burgers to choose from. From the spicy Swiss and Jalapeno to the Hoosier Tank, a one pound monster burger, they have something for everyone. Their wings, beer and delicious mozzarella sticks round off the menu to make Opie Taylor's a favorite any time of day.

Bloomington has become a hub of multiculturalism, and this has spilled over into numerous ethnic restaurants that can now be found in this beautiful college town. These restaurants are delicious, and I encourage you to take advantage of the ethnic cuisine that they offer. However, if your mouth is watering for an old fashioned burger, make Yogi's, BuffaLouie's, or Opie Taylor's your next stop.
