Top Three Burger Joints in Huntington Park, LA

Jose Zuniga
In this list, the three burger joints, include Bobo's Burgers, Rally's Burgers and Tam's Burgers. They're all single-named places with atmospheres unique to their locations.

Topping the list of this burger joint maniac is the restaurant-like atmosphere of Bobo's Burgers. In this place, conveniently located near a shopping district but one street out-of-the way, so that you don't have to push your way through crowds of people, the burgers are made upon ordering. They do not compare in taste, the meat is soft, not crunchy accompanied by fresh savory vegetables, which include onion, tomato, lettuce, cheese or relish (optional). My advice is hold the relish but regardless of the relish or not, it's a taste explosion in your mouth. The place has an old-school feel to it, too, like you just stepped into the 1960's. It's got a restaurant feel to it because they have menu's that can be brought to you or you could pick up from the counter. It's got an old working Jukebox in one corner and is always tidy. The service takes a little bit but that's because they're made on order and who cares about an extra two-minute wait when the burger more-than-satisfies the taste buds? Aside from that, it could land on the expensive side. The burgers are usually close to six dollars for the special. However, Bobo's often holds their own specials, last week's being three hamburger specials for fifteen dollars, a great value for the quality of burgers that come out of the place. It's also got a drive-through for those people on-the-go, who can't wait to enjoy their burgers at home. Bobo's is on 7300 Pacific Blvd.

Second, is Rally's Burgers, located up the street from Bobo's not more than three blocks on Florence street. This is, of course, a chain restaurant but its location is also wonderful because its at the corner of a crosswalk where people have come out of the shopping district. The fries are the crispiest and crunchiest I've ever had. Sometimes, they make fries too salty in other places but Rally's surpasses most of the local burger joints with their instant potato flavor. You could get away without the burger, if you're not that hungry, but the fries are a must. Also, the burgers are well-made, and the cheese is great, a little melt-there, be sure to get a napkin or two. Rally's also has benches inside and outside for people who want to experience a more al-fresco meal. Rally's will run you down about five dollars a meal, a reasonable price for its location and it's superb burgers and fries.

Finally, there's Tam's Burgers and this is only last because its such a short list. Set about five blocks from either Bobo's or Rallys on Atlantic and Florence, Tam's is the perfect place to get some eat-in or take out burgers. The fries at Tams are seasoned with an addicting salt/spice mixture and the fries are far from puny. Unlike in other places where big and small fries get that crunchy taste, at Tam's, the fries are soft and always warm. The burger is overflowing with flavor, especially since Tam's adds their own special dressing to the burger and you could get some on the side to dip your fries in. Be sure to ask for the combo's, which are not pricy at all, a mere four dollars gets you a combo but Tam's just like Bobo's has spectacular specials like five burger specials under twenty dollars. The place is right across the street from a shopping center, as well, so it's perfect for taking a break and sitting down to get a good burger.

Los Angeles always holds surprise burger joints, a person just has to look around for that perfect burger. Nothing has compared so far to Bobo's, my number one choice but I'm still searching and I hope this has helped, at least, the few that are visiting. Good luck and happy eating.
