Thanks to the Internet and the loads of travel and entertainment information readily available, searching for fun activities in San Diego is a simple matter of surfing the 'net. If you're uncertain about where to start, try these great activities in San Diego. Not only are these activities fun, each one has been selected because of its price: They're all free!

1. The San Diego International Children's Film Festival. This annual activity in San Diego is one of the best values around. Not only can you view family movies and short animated films at venues throughout San Diego County during the festival's two week run in the summer, the San Diego International Children's Film Festival also sponsors free film screenings throughout the year. These free film screenings often include movie premieres. Get a sneak peek at family movies that have yet to be released to the general public when you sign up for email notifications at the film festival's website. You'll receive information about the time and date of the screenings and instructions on how to receive your free movie passes.

2. Queen Califia's Magical Circle. Located in Escondido's Kit Carson Park, this magical sculpture garden is a work of art, literally. Enjoy the whimsical artwork of the legendary artist, Niki de Saint Phalle. Expose your children to a bit of culture while enjoying the pure whimsy of this fabulous sculpture garden made of mosaic tiles. Enclosed within a walled circle complete with undulating snakes guarding the wonders inside, you'll enter the mosaic garden through a fun little maze. Once inside, huge sculptures await.

3. San Diego Old Town State Historic Park. Something's always going on at Old Town. Whether you visit when there's a festival spilling onto the streets or on a quiet week day, you'll find plenty of fun and free activities in this historic state park. Wander through the stables, historic adobe homes, or blacksmith shop or check out the shops and restaurants. Haunted houses, an old cemetery, and other delights beckon. Best of all, living history is the norm here with people decked out in period attire a common sight.

These three activities are but a taste of the many fun things to do and places to go in San Diego. Watch free movies, have a picnic amongst gorgeous mosaic sculptures, or wander the streets of Old Town. All are fun, and all are free. Try them for yourself and enjoy!
