Top Three Life Principle

Pat Lunsford
Maintain integrity, judge not that you be not judged, and reverence God. These three life principles will lead to a godly life that is pleasing to God.

Integrity becomes a natural part of one's character with practice. Those who do what is right, only when it's convenient, lose all credibility and respect. Most of us know which of our friends or family can be trusted, just as we know which of them would lie, cheat, or stab us in the back if it would benefit them in some way.

People who lack integrity make a common mistake which is to assume that they can lie, cheat, or gossip about others, yet still be trusted and respected by close friends or family, which couldn't be further from the truth.

Also, judging others is wrong and should be left to God. "Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand." (Rom.14:4)

However, there is a difference between discernment and being judgmental. We can observe the character of a person and recognize certain traits, but we should always be kind and never arrogantly think that we may somehow be a better person. Only God knows the heart and the circumstances that surround each person's life.

All principles of life can be summed up in the fear or reverence of God. Those who worship God want to please Him and living a life of integrity and humility is what He expects from those who love and obey Him.

Therefore, strive to maintain integrity and abstain from the condemnation of others who seem to fall short of what we understand to be right and wrong. Pray for them that God will give them a new heart and a right spirit. But more importantly, seek God each day for the grace and mercy to live a life that is pleasing to Him, which should be our top priority.
