I refused to shop at CVS for a long time because they were the reason why Eckerd's locations were shut down, but I finally broke down and went inside one. Since then, I fill most of my prescriptions here because the staff always remembers by name and because I can shop for other things while I wait for my prescription to be filled. They even remember which prescriptions I fill on a regular basis for my wife, which is something of a miracle, seeing as how they serve hundreds of customers each day. CVS is a little higher priced than some of the other pharmacies, but I always appreciate quality customer service.

Drive-Thru Pharmacy
When it's raining, cold or I'm feeling too sick to get out of my car, I usually head to Walgreens. They have a drive-thru pharmacy that takes much less time than one would think, and the woman at the window is always friendly and helpful. Walgreens typically has slightly lower prices than CVS, though not always, but they have been around for so long that they know everything about the community. Also, if I need a Dr. Pepper or a carton of milk, the woman in the drive-thru will sell it to me there without asking me to come around to the front, which is always nice when you're sick.
Pharmacies in Houston, TX #3: Wal-Mart Supercenter

I know that Wal-Mart has been getting some seriously bad press lately, but they are perfect when you need prescriptions filled on a budget -- particularly if you don't have health insurance. They are currently running a program for discounted medications, as long as they are the generic brand, which is a wonderful way for people without insurance to be taken care of. Wal-Mart has always been fast about filling prescriptions, and if you're at a supercenter, you can grocery shop or look at books to read while you wait for your prescription to be filled.
