Top Three Science Field Trips in Texas for High School Students

Fun Field Trips to 3 Detinations Around Texas

Finding fun and educational science field trips for high school students can be a very daunting task. Many field trips are geared towards younger children and others just may not be interesting enough to draw students in where they really learn something.

In Texas, there are many options available for high school students that will help them have fun and learn along the way. For one, you need to focus on what your students are learning in school. Let's take physics for example. How do you teach physics and make it fun? What about an amusement park?

Six Flags Over Texas (www.sixflags.com)

2201 Road to Six Flags
Arlington, TX 76011

Groups of 10-100: (817) 640-8900 x 4950 ($26.99 per person and one complimentary chaperon ticket per 20 students)

Groups over 100: (817) 640-8900 x 4100 (call for pricing)

"Learning about gravity is a lot more fun on a roller coaster" says the Six Flags website. Bring your group on a designated learning day and they can even do experiments on the rides. Teach your students the laws of gravity, force, energy and transferring energy all while having a blast. There is even a great website to help you with your lesson plans. http://www.learner.org/interactives/parkphysics/index.html

And remember, they do have parks on San Antonio and other states as well.

Moody Gardens (www.moodygardens.org)

One Hope Boulevard
Galveston, Texas 77554
1-800-582-4673

Pricing: Starts at $7.95

If you really want to see the rain forest up close, without the cost of traveling to South America, just head on over to Galveston and explore Moody Gardens. Field trips are geared towards your students age including preserving and surviving the rain forests and pollution prevention of our oceans and seas. They also have the Aquarium Pyramid and some of the best movie adventures in the world.

Space Center Houston (www.spacecenterhouston.org)

1601 NASA PARKWAY (formerly NASA Rd 1)
Houston, Texas 77058

281-244-2100

Pricing: starts at $9.95 per person

The only real way to learn about space exploration is to see where the astronauts themselves work. Take a tour of NASA, see how it feels to live in space in the Living in Space simulation, and examine real vehicles that have been in space. Top things off with the space center theater and see what it takes to be an astronaut on a 5 story tall screen.

There are so many other options available for high school students. The Forbidden Gardens (www.forbidden-gardens.com) brings China to the U.S. with scaled down replicas of Chinese gardens and statues. Or why not try a professional baseball game to learn about physics. Whatever you decide, your students will enjoy the hands on experience and a day away from the classroom.
