Top Three Strategy Video Games

Barrett Eubanks
The gaming world is full of strategic games featuring every different genre imaginable, and I have played almost all strategy games that were created over the past few years. I have many games that I enjoy playing, but there will always be three that stand out against all other strategy games. 3-Empire Earth, 2-Age of Empires, and 1-Rome Total War.

Empire earth is a real time strategy game spanning from the time of cave men all the way to a civilization ran by robotic organisms. Whether one is forming an army of club wielders and rock throwers, massing a fleet of galleons and frigates, or building an air force of fighters and bombers, no one can deny the fun of this realistic strategy game. One can easily spend hours playing this game without growing tired of the constant civilization advancement and realistic battles.

Age of empires comes in second place because of the greater details in civilizations and fighting. Although Age of Empires does not go through a cyber age, the medieval touch of this game can still bring about strategic battles and the chance to maneuver through the ages while supporting a civilization through a strong economic force. This game has been known to keep many college students up until the early hours of the morning through the fun of competing against other human players on the internet.

Rome Total War has to come in first because it is near the most realistic strategy game ever created. The 3D battles between thousands of warriors on screen would be plenty of reason to make this game number one. The grand campaign allows you to act as a general for Rome in order to capture many of the major cities throughout the world. Being given orders by the senate as you attempt to conquer the world for the Roman Empire allows the player to feel as though he is really commanding the armies and cities of Rome. Beside the grand campaign, you have the ability to form custom battles from any possible army unit that existed in the time of the Roman Empire. The realistic touch of the campaign and custom battles allow me to place Rome Total War at the number one spot of what I consider to be the best strategy games ever.

These games will always need to be considered in the strategic game hall of fame for their successful realistic nature and ability to always bring some joy to a gamer with a craving for a strategy game.
