Top Three Viral Video Picks: Dramatic Chipmunk, Barney Frank Dancing Queen, and Don't Eat the Mushroom!

The Cream of the Crop in Funny Videos

Lina E.
Below you will find my top three favorite viral videos. They are in no particular order as they are all deserving of being number one.

"Dramatic Chipmunk"

This 5 second clip of a Gopher with a forbidding stare first hit you tube in 2007 and went viral soon after. It has since spawned dozens of spoofs. The star of the video is a Gopher despite the name of the video being "Dramatic Chipmunk". He has his own Facebook page and even made a guest appearance on a south park episode entitled "Canada on Strike". "Dramatic Chipmunk" makes my list because of it's universal appeal. People young and old from all walks of life get this simple humor. Set to traditional (dun dun dun!) dramatic music this one little gopher has hit more than 21 million page views!

"Barney Frank: Banking Queen"

Out of the dust of the banking crisis and "Too big to fail" came Barney Frank: Banking Queen. It was originally released as a song by ,believe it or not, Rush Limbaugh that soon went viral as you tube users set the song to pictures and (in some cases) inserted captions. It features democratic representative Barney Frank set to the music of a parody of ABBA's "Dancing Queen" . The hook proclaims "You can build, you can buy, any house your heart desires. Zero down financing. I am the banking queen!" This viral video makes my list because it shows the state of mind of the country. Also because it makes a political statement without being rude or nasty.

"Let's Play Knytt Stories: Don't Eat The Mushroom Part 2"
aka "Don't Eat the Mushroom"

This viral video is a 10 minute trip through the world of Juni, a video game character that should have said no to drugs. What should have been a quick delivery to her neighbors house turns into a psychedelic acid trip featuring, among others, the "burger" king surrounded by flames and Will Farrel, Jim Carry, and Jimmy Fallon rocking out. All this set to the music of Haddaways "What is Love". This viral video makes my list because it speaks to the gamer in me. The commentary is hysterical and the humor can be appreciated by gamers and non gamers alike.
