Top Trends for Wedding Bouquets

Cheryl Engelke
While weddings in general have taken a trendy trip towards the traditional, brides are putting their own unique spin on wedding bouquets. The 2011 wedding bouquet trends for spring are opting for whimsy, back to nature and the ever so simple.

Whimsical Wedding Bouquets

Origami blooms
Creating perfect paper blooms is a new trend that brides are opting for in their bouquets. Since they are timeless, they make fabulous keepsakes and are fun.

Whimsical Windmills
Remember when you were a kid and used to make paper windmills? Making a comeback in a whimsical way are the wedding windmill. Used all alone or in a bunch, these windmills make your wedding bouquets a step above the rest.

Wooden Wedding Bouquets
Wedding flowers can really break the bank. Some brides are tying the knot with wooden wedding bouquets. Made of real wood, these flowers are great keepsakes and come in a variety of colors, sizes and styles.

Back to Nature Bouquets

Wildflower Wedding
For brides on a budget or those who just love nature, the wildflower rage is taking over. Daisies, Sunflowers, Queen Anne's Lace, Delphiniums, larkspur, etc make excellent choices for wedding bouquets.

Green and Greenery
Greens of every shade are very trendy for weddings right now. Rather than a bouquet of flowers, some brides are choosing to carry only greenery. Things that can be also included are herbs, fruits and veggies in green hues. The greenery bouquet gives a cheerful salute to a spring wedding.

Simple Bouquets

Large, single blooms
Instead of a large bouquet, brides are also opting for one large single bloom. Such simplicity can be found with Sunflowers, Lilies, Birds of Paradise, and Amaryllis. I once attended a wedding where this was the case, only the brides grandmother crocheted the flowers instead of using real blooms.

Non-Floral Options

Brides are also taking a turn towards the unconventional and carrying Victorian style fans, matching clutches, parasols, and some are carrying nothing at all.

Brides will be setting their sights on for looks that are exceptional, stylish, and effortless, all at once for their wedding bouquets in 2011. Flowers will be selected and set in ways that not only revere the beautiful spring season, but also in ways that are complimentary to the bride and which are easy on the overall wedding budget. Savvy brides know that flowers can cost an average of $700, so they are making the most of the beauty of spring to adorn their weddings this year!
