Educational Love is in the Air!

For those of you with children in school, there is usually a party or celebration of sort on Valentines' Day. Children exchange cards, or small tokens of friendship with an appropriate holiday theme. Most thoughtful parents usually send something for the teacher along with their child. What is the ideal gift for a teacher? This article will review several of the top Valentines' Day gifts for teachers.

There are a couple of things you can do to personalize the Valentines' Day gift and make the art of gift giving, and the holiday special for the child and teacher alike. Usually children present the teacher with a card and a small box of candy. This traditional gift is always appreciated and is certainly a nice token of affection and appreciation towards the teacher for his or her role in your child's' life. If you want to spice this up a bit, and teach your child how to add personalization to gifts, take the time to make homemade fudge the teacher.

Most of us love chocolate and what better than fresh homemade chocolate fudge. You and your child can make it together. Since hot candy is dangerous, let the child cut the candy with a heart shaped cookie cutter once it has cooled but is still soft enough for molding. This will give him or her a sense of accomplishment, and the child will learn early in life about the gift of giving from a personal standpoint. Instead of buying a card, let your child begin early in the month working on a special Valentine's Day card for the teacher. You can purchase an inexpensive decorative tin, and paper doilies from a craft store to present the gift in. The same paper doilies can be used to make the card.

Another great idea and one of the top Valentines' Day gifts for teachers is the large decorative soup mugs sold this time of year. They are fairly inexpensive and can be filled with a nice brand of bath salts, bath beads, a nice candle pillar candle, and aromatherapy oils. You can also pick up a relaxation CD for a small amount. Wrap the gift in red or pink cellophane available at the craft store. What teacher do you know the end of a day at school that would not love the gift of rest, relaxation, and recuperation?

If your child's class wants to give a group gift, a perfect gift to give is the pink and red seasonal mixing bowls from Williams Sonoma. This is a quality gift that can be used year round and a welcome addition to one's kitchen essentials whether male or female. They also have the pink spatulas available to match the pink bowls. Before wrapping the bowls allow each child to make his or her own personal card for the teacher with a special greeting showing love and appreciation. Place this lovely gift in a decorative bag, or wrap in red or pink cellophane tied with a pretty bow. Most teachers that are cooks will find this to be one of the top Valentines' Day gifts received.

Another of the top Valentines' Day gifts to give to teachers is a winter garden. Usually the homeroom mother is responsible for organizing group gift giving so drop this idea in her ear. Pick up a nice planter and allow each child to create a heart with a greeting on construction paper. Attach the greetings to the planter with a safe adhesive agent. Pick up the appropriate bulbs and flower seeds to plant for the season, a bag of potting soil, and decorative garden tools, and a pretty pair of garden loves. I guarantee your child's teacher will love the idea of her students planting love in her life. This is truly one of the top Valentines' Day gifts for teachers.

If you find yourself swamped and unable to do what you would like to do, contact the homeroom mom. It might be best to make a monetary contribution, and if you have a good homeroom mom, this is decided ahead of time. Rather than each child bring a small box of mediocre candy, the group contribution can buy the teacher a box of Godiva Chocolates that she will love and actually enjoy. Present her with the beautiful gold box with personally signed Valentines' Day cards from each child tied together in a pretty pink or red (or both) satin ribbon.

These are just a few ideas that might help you as the big day approaches. There are many ways to show love and appreciation for the dedication of a teacher to her students, but these suggested ideas are a few of the top Valentines' Day gifts for teachers.

bath items are very personal and should only be given if you are exactly sure what the teacher likes. I get SO MUCH of that and end up giving it to a women's shelter. THE BEST gift is a handmade card with a note from the student and/or parent. That is a treasure.

I like a lot of these ideas, but please for the love of God do not ever give me any more mugs!!!!! I ran out of space for them all years ago! Chocolate is always good. Or at least put the bath salts in something other than a mug......8-)

Teachers also appreciate gifts they can use on Valentine's Day and after that as well. Some gift ideas for teachers can be found here and are "teacher approved" by many I know! http://www.cafepress.com/bonfiredesigns/4385112
