Blossom: Blossom consists of three different restaurants, the more formal and upscale Blossom restaurant, located in Chelsea, Blossom uptown and Café Blossom on the upper east side, which are more casual. All three offer organic, vegan cuisine.

Blossom Restaurant at 187 9th Ave between 21st and 22nd streets in Chelsea recommends reservations and is open 7 days a week for dinner at 7 pm. To get an idea of what type of meals you are looking at and pricing some examples of entrees are as follows: Port Wine Seitan (eat seitan sparingly if you are not a regular eater, it will clean you out) for $22 and the Fettuccine Bolognese for $21 (fresh spinach fettuccine topped with vegan Bolognese sauce, roasted eggplants, broccoli rabe, and maitake mushrooms.

Blossom Uptown is located on the upper west side at 466 Columbus Ave, between 82nd and 83rd streets. Reservations are not necessary here and seating is first come, first serve. This establishment in the "Blossom" franchise is more low keys with offerings like veggie grain burgers, oyster mushroom po' boys for $12 and also options like smoothies, shakes, hot tea drinks, and vegan deserts.

The similarly low key Café Blossom East is on the Upper East Side at 1522 1st Ave, and also does not accept reservations. The café is open Monday through Friday from 11am-10pm and Saturdays from 11am-10:15 pm, Sundays 11am-9:15 pm.

Zen Palate: Granted, I have never been to the Manhattan locations, but I have been to the Princeton, New Jersey restaurant and it is absolutely delicious. Located in four locations in NYC ( the theatre district, financial district, union square, and Lexington) this vegetarian restaurant has many vegan options and serves Malaysian and well as traditional American and even some Mexican dishes vegan or vegetarian style. The Princeton location offers delivery for a $15 minimum and it is reasonably prices. The yam fries are to die for and the Zen burger is a delicious and nutritious veggie options. I have taken at least two meat eaters to this restaurant and both had only positive things to say.

Pure Wine and Food: Probably the most well known vegan restaurant in NYC, this join is not only vegan but also serves raw and organic foods. Fairly expensive compared to the other options, the Gramercy Park lactation at 54 Irving Plaza between 17th and 18th streets opened in 2004 and offers everything from a $69 5 course tasting menu to an extensive wine and cocktail list. To get an idea of costs and foods some examples are as follows: warm peach cobbles for $15 and white corn tamales with raw cacao mole, marinated with mushrooms, salsa verde, and avocado for $23.

Lulu's Sweet Apothecary: A lesser known vegan sweets gem located on the lower east side, sells delicious and cheap vegan frozen desserts. Items include flurries, brownie sundaes, shakes and malts for $5 and under. The shop is open fairly late staying open until 12 am on Thursdays and 1 am on Friday and Saturday evening, you can get a scoop of vegan, dairy free ice cream for only $3.25. There are many gluten free options as well. The sweet shop located between Avenues A and B is closed on Mondays, but otherwise well worth sampling.

Little Lads one block north of Wall Street and Broadway is far superior to Lulas and to Blossom, etc. It is simply the best and most economical vegan retaurant in New York City. It is also the most ethical. Look it up on yelp.com and at littlelads.net
