Top Viral Internet Videos of All Time and Top Recent Viral Hits

Kimberly Cummings
Viral use to refer to something relating to a virus, however over the years because of the Internet the term "Viral" has come to mean much more. Case in point the term viral now means basically something such as a video or article has spread like wildfire, or hence gone viral as a virus spreading rapidly. My top picks for viral Internet videos are pretty simple for me, however I broke it into two parts, now and of all time.

New viral top picks are:

1. Fordham University is definitely a school that I've never heard of, however they seemed to get most people's attention for basically the best sport moment recently. Fordham's shortstop coming in to base at a game did a complete handspring over the catcher to make the play. I thought it was inventive and very well done and if I was a judge I'd give it a 9.5 for technical ability and completion.

After seeing the video, I read where a runner couldn't run more than three feet away from the direct line in baseball and some people were trying to say that includes vertical. I have no idea what this means but I think he got the home run fair and square if you asked me. Good job!

2. The recent eruption of Icelandic volcano, Eyjafjallajokull caused flights to be canceled for about every country in Europe. However the big reason this is one of my favorite viral videos comes from the media coverage and America's fascination with the pronunciation. I can't even imagine how to properly say it and I've watched all the videos over and over again. I also couldn't believe that good ole Al Roker from the Today show pronounced it properly and without hesitation. Definitely confirmed that he is a true professional in every sense of the word. Way to go Mr. Roker!

3. The last recent viral video I picked was a heartwarming story about a truly great dog. On April 4th a very exceptional German Shepherd named Buddy lead Alaskan State Troopers to a fire in his owner's family workshop. The owner only suffered minor burns but the workshop was completely destroyed. Buddy went on to get an award and when watching the video you can definitely see why. This dog is truly beyond belief and his owner should be proud. Terrific job Buddy!

Top choices for viral videos of all time are:

1. Susan Boyle's original performance video taken at Britain's Got Talent in 2009. This lady really shocked everyone including Simon Cowell with her amazing voice. I was thoroughly shocked and am still to this day in awe of her talent. Great performance shocker!

2. The Miss Teen USA Pageant in 2007 provided everyone a valuable geography lesson when we listened to Miss South Carolina, Caitlin Upton. Unfortunately the geography question must have caught her by surprise and she answered it all wrong. When watching this video, I was truly saddened for this young girl and wished that someone could rewind time and let her do it all over but of course that isn't what happened. Unfortunately due to the Internet this video showing her devastating blunder will most likely be replayed over and over again.

3. My final top viral Internet video of all time is a very easy pick, I watched this video more than possibly any other one over the years. It is one of those viral videos that sticks in your head and grows on you the more you watch it. I even went so far as to look up the original recording of the song. Numa Numa is a very enjoyable and just plain funny great video that can easily bring a chuckle and smile to anyone. Numa Numa guy truly hysterical!
