Sugar Creek Winery and Vineyards is located at 125 Boone Country Lane in the town of Defiance, Missouri. Overlooking the Missouri River Bluffs and Valley and the Katy Trail, the scenery is magnificent. Boasting a beautiful wine terrace where you can relax with a bottle of wine and enjoy good company, and in April through October you can enjoy live music in the gazebo. When it's cold outside, they invite you into their cozy parlor and tasting room found inside the beautiful turn of the century Victorian home. Mount Pleasant Winery is located at 5634 High Street also in beautiful Augusta, Missouri. Winning several prestigious awards over the years, they have also achieved high ratings on their wines. Mount Pleasant offers a very calm, but friendly experience, so much so that you feel as if you've stepped into another world. The grounds are beautiful, with a full size patio with the most amazing view. Grab a bottle of wine and enjoy a delicious picnic right there on the patio. They offer a 45 minute tour of the limestone cellars and grounds, and offer free tastings of several different wines. Positives: Grocery and Grill on site. The Augusta Winery offers a small, but quaint winery visit to its customers. On the grounds they have a free wine tasting room with sausage, cheese, crackers, water and soda available to make your visit more enjoyable. Nice work and article. I can't remember what county Stone Hill is in but its only recently I learned just how much wine Missouri produces ... and I guess way back when, we were the envy of California in this regard. Interesting stuff.
