Top Wrestling Fan Sites

Jeff D Gorman
Wrestling fans cannot be grouped into one category. You have families who watch WWE, teen-agers who watch Ring of Honor, and old-timers who prefer the action of their era. Wrestling fan sites are as diverse as the fans themselves.

THE WRESTLING FAN SITE
Simple enough! If you haven't been paying attention to wrestling for a while, this is the perfect place to catch up. It features updated rosters and results for the three WWE brands (Raw, Smackdown and ECW) as well as the No. 2 group, TNA (Total Nonstop Action) Wrestling.

The best part of The Wrestling Fan site is the "real names" section, which is extensive. The Wrestling Fan site also has a calendar of upcoming big-league wrestling shows.

THE WRESTLING EPICENTER
This site strikes a good balance between the big and small wrestling promotions. Their news wire on the front page is updated frequently, so it is a good first stop when you're looking for wrestling news.

Make sure you check out the Interviews section, where you can listen to interviews with major stars like Stone Cold Steve Austin and Triple H. They even interviewed me after I published "This Side of the Mic," a book about my life as a wrestling announcer. Scroll down the Interview page to "Jeff Gorman - 4/29/06" and check it out.

DEATH VALLEY DRIVER
This is the perfect site for the serious wrestling fan. The guys who write for this site are the "gurus on the mountaintop" of pro wrestling. They write long reviews on stuff you just can't see by flipping on the TV, concentrating on Japanese, Mexican and old school wrestling.

DVD also has a great message board where you can keep up on everything that is currently happening in wrestling. Other highlights include the "road reports" of the guys' travels to various wrestling shows, and the Big, Big Book of Wrestling Moves. That is a must-see if you aspire to be a wrestling announcer.

CZW FANS
This fan site is run by devotees of Combat Zone Wrestling, which still favors the weapons-based hardcore style of wrestling popularized by Extreme Championship Wrestling in the Nineties. The rabid fans on the forums also discuss Ring of Honor and Chikara Pro Wrestling.

DECLARATION of INDEPENEDENTS
This site calls itself "the mothership of independent pro wrestling." In a world where WWE dominates the wrestling marketplace, these guys are totally devoted to their favorite small wrestling promotions, most of them on the East Coast.

In addition to selling DVDs of wrestling shows, DOI also produces "shoot interviews" of independent stars, a treatment that usually goes to the bigger names in wrestling.

OLD SCHOOL WRESTLING
If you're an old-school fan who has somehow managed to learn to use of these new-fangled computers, Wrestling Classics is the site for you. The "museum" section features interviews and video clips of classic wrestling.

Kayfabe Memories is another site to the "territory" days before Vince McMahon made the WWE a national powerhouse. You can buy vintage wrestling action from the original distributors through the site, or you could read reviews of books written by wrestling heroes. The wrestlers themselves sometimes pop up on the forums to spin tales of their adventures from the old days.

These sites will keep new and old wrestling fans busy for a long time.
