Common Man

Sometimes the common man needs to sit down, shut up, and let the uncommon men do what they have to do to keep the earth turning.

Like an over eager employee, our wily politicians feed citizens with empty promises to get to power, knowing full well they are difficult to deliver. For democracies to realize their full potential, we need leaders to step in who mean what they say.

Real issues are swept under the carpet by pursuing those that distract us. Many countries are in danger of default as their debts reach their GDPs. Chain defaults can bring down the world financial order.

Though democratic systems are the fairest, most are subverted by wily politicians to serve their own ends. The common man finds himself played out repeatedly, left only with an illusion of power to elect leaders.

The rich tend to have flexible values to suit circumstances; even countries are not above board. But the stoical man in the street lives by his principles, come what may, and despite being short-changed.

Despite the dire state of the world economy with doomsday predictions of another wipe-out, we baulk at taking steps needed due to political expediency. We only delay the inevitable!

Real peace can be achieved only by taking a holistic approach; not by some countries holding-on to weapons under the premise they are a deterrent. Common man wants peace & to be left alone; he has enough in his hands, even otherwise!

We are given everything to make our lives heaven on earth but we make it a hell with our attitudes & destructive ways; more potent weapons mean more miseries unless we change our thinking, with live & let live motto!

Though democracy empowers all, the benefits are shared by a few insiders, in most nascent democracies. The common man is remembered only at the elctions, and soon forgotten, does not matter at all!

We seem powerless to wean away from actions that have brought us ruin in the past. The writing is on the wall, but none willing to bell the cat!
