Varenicline

The FDA has issued a Public Health Advisory about the increased risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors by people taking the smoking-cessation drug varenicline (Chantrix).

Existing smoking cessation aids are either moderately successful or pose other health risks. A new drug that mimics the effects of nicotine in the brain without causing addiction showed promising results in a recent study.
