Erythematosus

SLE also called 'lupus' is predominantly a disease of women. It causes chronic multi-systemic inflammation and can cause significant disability.

In some people, systemic lupus erythematosus, or SLE, can produce potentially life-threatening complications. Of these secondary conditions, kidney failure is considered perhaps the most severe.

If your child develops unusual red plaques around the face and head, this may be indicative of a chronic and rare skin disorder known as DLE, or discoid lupus erythematosus.
