Top-Notch Thrill Rides at Sea World Orlando

Christopher Blydenburgh
If you are looking for an incredible place with lots of thrill rides, magnificent live shows and meet-and-greet real live animals, then seek no further because you can all find them at Sea World Orlando. Kraken, the only FLOORLESS, longest, fastest and tallest rollercoaster, is but one of the featured rides in Sea World Orlando. Have a wild "watercoaster" splash at Journey to Atlantis then fly on a jet helicopter simulator in Wild Arctic. It will take you to a base station where you can take a relaxing stroll on a walk-through animal habitat! They are all here at Sea World Orlando.

Kraken, just like its mythical counterpart, is a monster of a ride with its 65 mph speed and 151 ft. height and loops just over Serpent's Lagoon! Since 2000, Kraken continues to offer a 3.5-minute mystifying ride through its featured zero-G roll, corkscrew, two loops and three tunnels. This crowd-puller was conceived by Mabillard and Bolliger, two famous Swiss rollercoaster architects. Kraken can be found at the back of Pacific Point Preserve, in Sea World Orlando's Northeast section. Before you ride, however, check if you are above 54" high because this exciting ride does have a height restriction. Also, take note of the health restrictions placed near Kraken's entrance.

Have a water-filled fun at Sea World Orlando's Journey to Atlantis. This unique "watercoaster" is an eight-passenger vessel that journeys to a recreation of Atlantis' mythical city. If you enjoyed Universal's Islands of Adventure's Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls and Disney's Magic Kingdom's Splash Mountain, you will surely love the creative variation that Journey to Atlantis of Sea World Orlando can offer. With its 60-foot drop and a splash pool, Journey to Atlantis was made available to the public in 1998 and continues to give wet-and-wild mystical adventure to all. It is located next to Pacific Point Preserve. However, height restrictions do apply. So, check if you are 42" or taller. Health restrictions should also be read near the entrance of Journey to Atlantis.

Fly on a heart-stopping jet helicopter simulator at Wild Arctic and land straight to the heart of "Base Station Wild Arctic." Have a "multilevel ecosystem" adventure by meeting harbor seals, beluga whales, walruses and polar bears. Wild Arctic does have a height requirement of 42" or taller. If you have ailments, you also have the choice of skipping the simulator ride and going straight to the walk-through animal habitat.

The fun does not stop there. Sea World Orlando's other features include Clydesdale Hamlet and Turtle Point, Key West Dolphin Fest, Tropical Reef, Sky Tower Ride, Manatees: The Last Generation?, Penguin Encounter, Pets Ahoy!, Odyssea, Shamu's Happy Harbor, Clyde and Seamore Take Pirate Island, Pacific Point Preserve, Stingray Lagoon, Dolphin Cove, Shark Encounter, and so on.

Kyle Collins, HotelsCorp.com's Director of Interactive Marketing, recommends that one should want to plan ahead and purchase tickets before going to Sea World Orlando so that the whole family can save and enjoy all the top-notch thrill rides, animal habitats, live shows and all that Sea World Orlando has to offer. There is definitely something for every member of the family in Sea World Orlando.

Great description of the Kraken & Journey to Atlantis. My 16 year old son, Vin, convinced me to ride the infamous Kraken. I'm glad I did, it was amazing! Since I turn 50 this year, I figured I'd better! As it turned out, there were quite a few folks older than I! It was a real thrill, but I preferred the Journey to Atlantis, personally. You're right though, they're both terrific rides! Great article! KIM
