Topping, Virginia, Touts Annual Wings and Wheels Car and Air Show

Susan
Middle Peninsula, Virginia -- Every September in Topping, Virginia, the hottest place to be is the Annual Wings and Wheels Car and Air Show. This year on Saturday, September 27, 2008, the Wings and Wheels Show will be bigger than it has ever been. Each great piece of this annual event is there for one reason: to raise funds for the Hartfield Volunteer Fire Department. As the wife of a firefighter and close to the Ladies Auxiliary, I know personally that this is the fire department's biggest fund raiser of the year, and each year, it gets bigger and better.

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Hartfield Volunteer Fire Department, and the firefighters themselves, work tirelessly for months to provide FREE fun and entertainment to those who venture to this event year after year. Yes, entry to this event is free and parking is free as well (however, donations are much appreciated). This year, there will be an expanded children's carnival, with more rides and more games. There will also be a very talented Bluegrass Band to entertain young and old alike.

Pilots from all over Virginia and beyond will fly their aircraft in directly to Hummel Air Field and land right next to the Wings and Wheels show. Pilots will be near their planes to give tours and other information about their planes.

Likewise, auto owners from near and far will drive, tow, and haul in their classic American, European, British, and Exotic vehicles to present to the crowds. According to the Wings and Wheels web site, www.wingsandwheels.us, some of the vehicles already registered include a 1955 Studebaker Commander, 1958 MGA Roadster, 1966 Austin Healey, and a 1938 Cadillac Imperial Limo.

And, their efforts do not go unnoticed. According to the web site, www.wingsandwheels.us, judges will choose 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners to receive trophies for both autos and airplanes. The categories for autos are: American, European, British, and Exotic. The categories for airplanes are: Antique, Classic, Experimental, and Ultralite. Check out the web site for more information.

Every year, more and more people come to taste the outstanding foods and drinks, peruse the craft alley, and meet the local and come-here vendors and their varied products and services. Bring your sunscreen, as well as your umbrella, for this is a rain or shine event. Come out and support the Hartfield Volunteer Fire Department and stay all day at the Wings and Wheels Show. There's plenty to do, see, and eat.

If you'd like to be a vendor in this great event, have a craft tent you'd like to set up, or would like to help out with this fundraiser, please email info@wingsandwheels.us.
