Toppings for Apple Pie

Ways to Make Pies More Decadent

Crystal Ray
Ordinary homemade apple pie is good, but it can be much better with toppings. It can be very decadent and as unique as gourmet pies sold in bakeries. This is a great way to make home-baked pies stand out from all of the rest, especially at a county fair, a potluck meal or a family gathering. Try these toppings for apple pie, and make them more appealing than ever. They can be absolutely delicious and far more enticing than plain varieties.

Easy Caramel Toppings from a Jar

When seeking very easy toppings for apple pie, buy a jar of caramel topping especially for ice cream treats. Drizzle it over cooled apple pie. It does not get much easier than this! Best of all, it will taste as good as it looks.

For added decadence, finely chop caramel candy and sprinkle it over the top of the apple pie. If it is right out of the oven, the chopped candy will soften and melt on top. As the candy cools it will once again harden and create sweet and chewy toppings.

Drizzle Melted White Chocolate Over Cooled Fruit Pie

Most people do not think of chocolate when considering apple pie, but white chocolate toppings are great on fruit pies. Melt white almond bark or vanilla chips in a microwave or double boiler, and drizzle it over a cooled apple pie. This topping looks great, and it tastes great too. It adds sweetness, flavor and a little crunch after the chocolate cools and hardens.

Top Apple Pie with Chopped Peanuts and Melted Caramel

Caramel apples are covered in thick, rich caramel and coated with chopped peanuts. Melted caramel candy combined with chopped peanuts is one of the best toppings for apple pie. Melt caramel candy according to package directions. Drizzle it over a cooled apple pie, and top it with a generous amount of chopped salted peanuts. These toppings are usually paired with raw apples on sticks, but they will taste even better on pies.

Make Easy Cinnamon and Sugar Toppings

When looking for easy toppings for apple pie, add a generous sprinkling of cinnamon and sugar. This is very easy and incredibly delicious. Combine three parts granulated sugar with one part cinnamon, and liberally sprinkle it on warm apple pie. This can be combined with any of the aforementioned toppings, and it will make them tastier and more decadent than ever.
