My initial experience with Toprol XL, and the Toprol XL side effects, was not good. I was very tired all of the time and needed naps daily. In addition, I had difficulty breathing and often felt like there was something heavy on my chest. In what was probably a poor choice, I decided to stop taking the Toprol XL on my own. Consequently, the Toprol XL side effects went away.
Over one year passed in between episodes, so I was lured into a fall sense of security. Just recently, however, I experienced my worst episode yet. The next morning, I called the pharmacy and refilled my prescription for Toprol XL. Luckily, I am not experiencing any of the Toprol XL side effects as I did the last time.
Since I was so worried about the fatigue, I took a better approach this time. My work schedule is rather chaotic and my hours are not great. However, I knew that I really needed to get a good night's sleep each night to help keep myself rested. This approach seems to have helped quite a bit with the Toprol XL side effects. I am not nearly as tired this time as I was the last time.
The breathing problem is different this time, also, but I think this has more to do with me than the Toprol XL. I have seasonal allergies and some indication of asthma as a result of those allergies. My allergies and asthma are not bothering me very much right now, so I do not have the breathing problems that I normally do. Toprol XL may enhance certain breathing problems, though, so it's important that a doctor is aware of all health issues before he or she prescribes Toprol XL.
There are other Toprol XL side effects listed on the warning, so it's important to make sure that you read all of the information before taking it. However, remember that pharmaceutical companies are required to list every medical problem each patient during a study regardless of whether they believe it occurred as a result of the medication or not. So, do not assume that each and every Toprol XL side effect will happen to you. Some of the other Toprol XL side effects listed are dizziness, depression, diarrhea, itching or rash, and slow heart rate. Again, none of these have happened to me.
Overall, Toprol XL is a good medication and is doing its job in keeping my cardiac episodes under control. I do not think the side effects are enough to stop me from taking it.
