Topsy Search for Twitter Fanatics

To visit Topsy would require you to be looking for a specific tweet that you were researching or just want to know about. To provide an important search engine you have give people something of value that can be useful in operating their daily lives. For the average tweeter the new features of topsy will leave you wanting more, but for the twitter expert this is a site for you to find the latest topics.

First, when you open the site you are expecting something on the scale of a Google, or yahoo platform and search capabilities, but, when you get to topsy it is nothing like those other search engines, the page is plain, no advertisements, and at the bottom of the search box you have a bunch of key phrases that allow you to see what people have been tweeting about. I believe those feature are actually on the twitter page, you can find it if you go to the sign in page or to your page. If you go to your page it is located on the right side towards the bottom.

Photos

Lets talk about the photo part of the new features of topsy, if you have a kid at home please don't allow them to access topsy with out you being there to walk them through the photos they will see on the site. If you go there now you will see two nude photos, the first photo you will see is a man rubbing suntan lotion on a woman's back and her breast are exposed, and the other is a woman sitting in the window with her bare bottom exposed pushing on the glass. I have never seen this on any other search engine when you open up images. That is not a good image to have on topsy's side of the engine, and a real turn off to parents.

Tweets

The tweets feature is nice because you can see what everyone is saying about the phrases you type in. Only thing I didn't like about it was it doesn't have up to date tweets on every thing, one thing in particular is I typed my name in the bar and it only had three things on my tweets and only one actually worked. That's not good because I tweeted yesterday several times, and none of them showed up.

Trending

Topsy's trending feature shows you the top 100 tweets that people have been tweeting about, and when I went there the lowest number of tweets on any particular subject was 18 tweets, after that it was in the 20's for a tweet. I don't believe this feature is accurate, because there are a lot of subjects out there that people are tweeting about, and if you go to the main page you can see those popular tweets are not on the top 100, that's another flaw in the new topsy features.

Log in with Twitter

You can log in with twitter, which is nice if you plan on commenting on the tweets that you see. Other than that there is really nothing amazing about topsy's new features, for the average tweeter this site will not benefit them. But if you have someone that lives on twitter and want to know what conversation they should be in, then topsy is the site for them. Just open up topsy right next to your twitter profile and tweet on.
