Adventurous visitors can hike through the Park, staying overnight in the many hostels (called refugios) in the area. There are two different hiking circuits to choose from: The basic 4-day W circuit or the more challenging 7-day circuit. Considered the gateway to the Torres del Paine area, you will find a number of guided tours through the Park. Other tourist services like hotels, maps, weather conditions, and hiking or camping equipment rental can be found in Puerto Natales. Be sure to stock up on any needed supplies before leaving town because these items will be harder to find once you are inside the Torres del Paine National Park.

The most popular times of the year to visit Torres del Paine are between November and February because this is spring and summer down in Patagonia, Chile. The area attracts many visitors from North American who are looking to escape the cold winters where they live. If you can handle the colder temperatures and occasional snowfall, March or April can be a great time to travel to Torres del Paine. The foot traffic will be much less and the high winds of Patagonia will not be as prevalent as they are during the spring and summer months.

Plan ahead if you intend to visit Torres del Paine during the busy season. Refugios are limited in this area and fill up quickly. There are a number of refugios you can choose from, all of which will accept advance reservations. Some of the more popular are the Lake Grey Refugio, Refugio Dickson, and Paine Grand Lodge. You will also receive meals included in your accommodation price at the Las Torres, El Chileno, and Los Cuernos refugios. Some of the refugios do offer camping equipment rental for those tourists who did not already get their equipment while in Puerto Natales. Be sure to check your equipment for damage or leaks before setting out to hike Torres del Paine. The refugio equipment has probably been used by several tourists before your arrival.
