Tortilla Chips Vs Cashews

A Snack Review

Chen Salis
My family does not always eat healthy, we are guilty of munching on chips, cookies and crackers and other quick snack style foods. We do make sure we eat fruits and veggies regularly, but in this busy and expensive world it is easy to turn to a prepackaged food when hunger strikes. In this multi product review, I will focus on Herr's Black Pepper Barbecue dipper style tortilla chips and Dan-D-Pak salted cashews in an effort to help other consumers find a unique snack option.

Herr's is a well known brand of potato chips in my area. Most stores carry a small selection of Herr's bagged salty snacks. I am a BBQ fan, and I like tortilla chips so when I saw Herr's Black Pepper Barbecue Dippers Tortilla Chips in an 8.3 ounce package on sale for $1, I did not hesitate to try these out. While these chips would be great for dipping in salsa or other dips, they are flavorful and very enjoyable when eaten solo. Each portion is a generous one ounce serving and contains 140 calories and 7 grams of fat in addition to protein, vitamin a and calcium. These are a new and very good new tortilla chip style snack that I will buy again. I look forward to trying the other flavors such as Fire Roasted salsa, Chili and Cheese and Lime. I would be happy to recommend this product to others. The Herr's brand is affordable and of a high quality.

Dan-D-pak salted cashews are available at Discount shops such as Dollar tree for a low price of $1 for a 3.5 ounce package. While these are inexpensive cashews, they are also quite delicious. The cashews are mostly halves and pieces but there are a few whole nuts inside the bag. Each 3.5 ounce package contains 3 servings of a quarter cup of cashews with 190 calories and 15 grams of at in addition to protein, iron and calcium. I was pleased with my purchase of Dan-D-Pak cashews and I would recommend this product to others and I will purchase it again.

When comparing the health benefits of the two snacks, you consume less fat, calories and sodium when you eat Herr's Black Pepper Barbecue Dippers Tortilla Chips than you would with the salted cashews. You also don't really give up on as many vitamins and minerals as you might imagine. In my opinion both of these inexpensive snacks are fantastic and worth purchasing.
