Red Eyeshadow. I never thought this would be a trend because red is not usually a color we want to see around our eyes. But it's been popping up all over the place, from the red carpet, to awards ceremonies, to gossip mags. Red eyes are in. And it does make sense. Red is vibrant and intense, and makes green eyes pop. The key is to try a red shadow in a soft, matte shade. Keep it just on the lid area - too much red and you'll risk looking like a Mimi wannabe. Pair it with a dark top, black or dark brown eyeliner and 2 coats of lengthening mascara for a look that will really wow! If you're not quite daring enough to try red, substitute a burghandy, plum, or even a hot pink instead.
Matching Cheeks and Lips. This is another surprising trend. Matchey-matchey looks have been rather passe for a while, but they seem to be coming a bit back in vogue. This trend is super easy. Take a soft pinky or slightly lavender tinted lipstick. It must be matte, and apply to your lips. Then, use the same lipstick just as you would a cream blush to add a little pop of color to your cheeks. Add a dot of clear gloss to the center of your lips, if desired. The result is extremely fresh, modern, and beautiful.
Smokey Bronze Eye. The smokey eye is still alive and kicking for a night out on the town, but you can up the ante by trading out the dark silvery shades for a shimmering bronze. Use the same techniques for application, only the color actually changes. Add as much sparkle and shine as you dare! Complete the look with black liquid liner and of course, a few well placed false eyelashes.
Neon Colors. Remember the neon colors of the eighties? Well, they're back and they are better than ever. But instead of finding them on your peace sign pajamas pants, you'll find neon colors on your eyes. This look really makes a statement, but is so easy to do. Skip the eyeshadow altogether, but use a concealer or tinted shadow primer to hide any veins on your eyelids. Pick a soft, large bright colored eye liner. Bright green, yellow, purple, and yes, even pink - are pretty easy to find. The liner should look more like a fat crayon than a pencil. Just make one line along your top lid, at the base of your lashes. And follow with a bit of mascara. The result is an invigorating peek of color that will have all eyes staring at yours.
Dark Nails . Black nail polish isn't goth anymore. It's gorgeous in deep, shimmery tones with shades of green or blue mixed in. Better yet, try a deep, charcoal grey. Just remember to keep nails short, neat, and slightly squoaval.
