I am recovering nicely from my hip replacement surgery. Most of the pain seems to be behind me, I have only four more blood-thinner shots to go, and have graduated from walker to cane. Supposedly, after four more weeks on the cane, I will be fully back on my feet. For now, I find it painful to sit at the computer, so have not been able to read or at least to comment on as many articles as I would like. Hopefully, eventually, I can do better.
My daughter is scheduled for a double mastectomy on April 9th, to be followed by 4 months of chemo and eventual reconstruction. So far, the prognosis is good, but my main concern is that she will get some kind of infection while on chemo, which disables the immune system. Since she still has a child in elementary school, I see that as a possible source of infection, as kids do tend to pick up bugs easily. Her husband is very supportive, but his job requires him to travel several days a month. So we hope to be available if she needs us when he is traveling.
I would be most grateful for prayers for my daughter and her family during this time. I hope to be back with you before too much longer.
