Buffalo has the reputation for being one of the snowiest cities in New York state. Buf Buffalo has more to offer than snow. Buffalo is a sporting city with professional sports the year round with the NHL Buffalo Sabres, the AAA baseball team the Buffalo Bisons, and the NFL Buffalo Bills.

Nestled on the shores of Lake Erie, the end of the line for the Erie Canal, the Buffalo River, and the southern end of the Niagara River (it is really a strait since it connects two bodies of water) Buffalo has a lot to offer boaters and fishing enthusiasts alike.

Near downtown on the Buffalo River is the Military park and museum complete with monuments, memorials, aircraft and ships for touring and viewing.

Like many northern cities Buffalo residents know how to make the best of the short warm weather season. Festivals abound and area parks are lush and green ready for visitors including the Buffalo Zoo and the Botanical Gardens.

For the artistically minded and those who prefer the indoors Buffalo has a number of art galleries including the Albright Knox and the CEPA Gallery.

The home of the original Buffalo Wings, the restaurants in Buffalo offer a wide variety of eating places to fit any taste or ethnic delight. One of the festivals held each summer is The Taste of Buffalo where festival goers can sample all manner of edible delicacies.

For visitors seeking sights of historical and architectural interest Buffalo has buildings designed in all manner of styles from the Roosevelt house to the large Gothic design of the City Hall building downtown.

Buffalo is a city of several colleges and universities including the University of Buffalo. As a result there is an adequate public transportation system that serves the city of Buffalo and the surrounding areas of Grand Island and Niagara Falls. Visitors coming to the Buffalo area who do not drive will have no difficulty in getting around in Buffalo with the bus system and the one subway train including a bus ride from the airport. Amtrak has service several times a day to the Buffalo area serving at least one of the two train stations in the area.
