If you're just passing through or making Tishomingo your destination to have a family vacation, our town welcomes you to stay and come see what our community has to offer. Tishomingo is located about 2 hours south of Oklahoma City and has a population of about 3,200 people. Tishomingo is a small close knit town where everybody knows everybody. People are friendly and there's plenty to do and see.

Come take a stroll down Main Street and see the great Shoppe's in Tishomingo. There's plenty to do from camping, fishing, golf, visiting historic museums and taking hikes through the Tishomingo National Wildlife Refuge. When you're done having fun and worked up your hunger, the local restaurants will satisfy your empty tummy. From Mexican to fast food, Tishomingo has it. Come sit and chat with locals at the Western Inn or local Dairy Queen.

Take a short drive through the countryside and see the beauty this area has to offer. From golden fields to fresh water rivers the landscape will taunt you. Catch a glimpse of the wildlife in our area such as herons, ducks, deer, wild hogs, armadillo, roadrunners coyotes and much more.

Come learn about our history in Tishomingo from our two great museums, the Chickasaw Bank Museum and the Chickasaw Council Museum. Play a round of golf at the local Tishomingo Golf and Recreation Club. Or stop by the Tishomingo National Fish Hatchery and Blue River Hunting and Fishing Area.

Tishomingo is your town if you like fishing and hunting. Blue River in the months from November to March is a designated Trout stream. The Blue River Association sponsors two trout derbies every year. Anglers from across the country attend these derbies to fish and compete for cash prizes, awards, and trophies.

For hunters you can get registered to hunt on the National Wildlife refuge to hunt deer, turkey, rabbit, waterfowl and dove. There are special regulations and dates that you can hunt.

For those of you who don't hunt, bring a picnic basket and come walk all the nature trails and see the wildlife. Or bring your boat out and take a cruise out on the lake to see the landscape.

If you're looking to get in touch with nature and the outdoors this is an excellent place to come and bring the kids. Escape from the fast paced cities and hide away in our country escape. Here you can relax and really get in touch with nature and what it has to offer.
