Then I realized I was one of "them". You know "them" right? They are the ones who will get into the longest line at the grocery store just because it was the first line they came to. They are the same people who will wait an hour to ride Space Mountain when they could have waited five minutes. After a trip to Disney in September of 2005, which is typically considered low season, I realized I had become one of them. There shouldn't have been lines, yet we were waiting an hour at times. We were grumpy, staying out too late, oversleeping in the morning. What had always been The Happiest Place on Earth to me had suddenly become the grump zone.
Then I discovered Mike Hewell, and his website tourguidemike.com. Mike is a former Disney VIP tourguide. After working for Disney many years, Mike decided to go into business himself as a personal tourguide. He also decided he should expose the mistakes people often make when touring, and teach them how to think differently than the crowd.
Tourguidemike.com is a fee website, but it is definitely worth any fee. I have bought guidebook after guidebook, and none of them have given me information as invaluable as tourguidemike.com. For about the price you would pay for a guidebook, you can gain access to his site and a wealth of information. Be prepared ahead of time, you will NOT receive a personalized itinerary. Mike teaches you how to tour, and how to adapt your plans based off what is going on that particular day. He provides you with the best days to tour each park, and he also hosts forums on his sites that have several other experts that are very helpful with their information.
After we returned from our September 2005 trip, I knew I had to learn a different way of touring. I had heard about tourguidemike.com, but really didn't think it was something I needed. I decided to give it a try the next time I got ready to plan a trip.
A few months later, we decided to start planning out September 2006 trip to DIsney World, and I knew I wanted to try things the tourguidemike.com way. I went to the site, signed up, and immediately began to pour over his articles and suggestions. I honestly wasn't prepared for the MOUNTAIN of material that awaited me on his website. There were lots of things I already knew about, but there were lots of other things as well that I didn't know about. But other than just throwing facts at me, tourguidemike.com really taught me HOW to tour, and not always be behind everyone else.
When we took our September 2006 trip, the difference was like night and day. I read later that attendance was higher than the previous year, but I wouldn't have realized it. Our vacation was much more relaxing and fun. We rarely waited in lines, and when we did, they were 10-15 minutes. We had time to take afternoon breaks, swim in the pool, explore the resorts, just enjoy our surroundings. I knew after that trip, I would never go to Disney World without my tourguidemike.com information!
If you have been to Disney World dozens of times, sure you know a lot of information, facts, tips, tricks. But if you haven't been to tourguidemike.com yet, you are still missing out on making your Disney vacation the best it can be!!
