The ancient town of Siofok, Hungary is a small resort destination with a history dating back to the 1500s. After several takeovers, it finally hit its stride when it was rebuilt to focus on the tourist industry. The addition of a large pier, and several gardens, parks, and resorts built in the 1890s significantly boosted the popularity of Siofok and the neighboring areas. There are many outdoor recreation activities available in Siofok, Hungary, including water sports, horseback riding, go-karts, cycling, and more.

The history of Siofok, Hungary actually dates back even farther than the 1890s. The Turks originally occupied the town in 1541 and called it Fok. In 1688, the Romans took over and then the Hungarians finally took possession of Siofok in 1705. The original seal given to the town by Rakoczi II at the time of takeover is still part of the current town crest. Unfortunately, many of the town's historical landmarks were destroyed during World War II.

Siofok, Hungary has several museums so visitors can learn about the town's people or local customs. For those who are interested in music, the Imre Kalman museum may be a good choice. The entire museum is dedicated only to the composer and his works. The nearby Jozsef Beszedes Museum focuses on the hydro-engineering industry and the construction of the Balaton and its network of canals. The Lutheran Church in Siofok, Hungary was designed by renowned architect Imre Makovecz. The Egg Museum is one of Siofok, Hungary's more interesting tourist attractions, displaying decorated eggs from locations worldwide. Visitors who enjoy learning about the natural world should head to the local aquarium, reptile zoo, or mineral museum.

The old water tower in Siofok, Hungary was built in 1912. No longer in operation as a water tower, it now houses the local tourist information office. Other ancient buildings in the area include the nearby villas and railway station. The sculptures and statues throughout the town also give Siofok, Hungary a unique atmosphere. There are many of these unusual statues in town, some sitting on park benches while others stand under an umbrella looking up for rain. If you are in town at the right time, you can attend one of Siofok, Hungary's many festivals, from the Easter festival to May's Blue Ribbon sailing regatta. Wine tasting tours are available at many of Siofok's wineries, giving you a fun way to relax after a hard day of celebrating at the festivals.
