Tourist Must-Sees in Alexandria, Minnesota

If you're visiting west central Minnesota, be sure to swing by Alexandria and check out these hot spots!

Carlos Creek Winery - attend AppleFest or Grape Stomp in the Autumn months! These two great events offer you a chance to taste some of the region's finest wines, while also enjoying great food from vendors and wonderful local talent in the form of music! Come and stomp grapes, do some wine blending, try some gyros or cheese curds, and enjoy the day! http://www.carloscreekwinery.com/

Runestone Museum - If you consider yourself a history buff and want to know more about how Alexandria came to be, spend a day at the museum! Here they offer a Period Room, a Wildlife Habitat, the Discovery Room, and- yes, even an opportunity to learn about everybody's favorite, Big Ole! You can also dig through grandma's closet and choose some things to wear, check out the Military Display, or see the Doctor's Office- my, have things changed since the early 1900's! http://runestonemuseum.org/

Douglas County Fair - Held each August, this is a wonderful time to get kids, grandkids, and friends together! Enjoy food, crafts, rides, 4H showings, bake sales, animals, and much much more!

Alexandria Area Arts Association - From magicians and hypnotists to videos and plays, the center adds so much to the city! Come and enjoy a night on the town, whether you prefer stand up comedy, oil paintings, musicals, or something else. There's something for everyone!

Casey's Amusement Park - Whether you enjoy mini golf, go karts, bumper boats, or getting some practice batting with your baseball buddies, you can do it all at Casey's! An outdoor amusement park, this is perfect for families, parties, or just to get out for a few hours! Or take it indoors and enjoy the arcade and order some tasty food! http://caseysamusementpark.com/

City Park - My favorite park in the area because you can have a picnic, play on the equipment, and take a dip in the lake all in one trip! Whether you walk 5 minutes and get lunch at Dairy Queen, Subway, or McDonald's, or pack your own picnic lunch, you could easily spend half a day here. Let the kids take a swim, then grab lunch and let them run off their energy and dry off in the sun on the slides, swings, and much more!

Whether you are traveling alone, with friends, with kids, or with in-laws, there's always something for everyone in Alexandria. We have so many wonderful, friendly people and establishments, and great restaurants, too! Come and see why we're "Easy to Get to and Hard to Leave."
