Towson Neighborhood Block Parties

Ever drive or walk around in Towson on a Friday night in the summer and wonder what that loud noise is and why all those people are out on the street? In case you haven't heard yet, it's one of the feet on the street block parties. My favorite thing to do in the neighborhood is to attend these neighborhood summer block parties. The block parties start in early June and finish towards the end of September. The block party is held on Allegheny Avenue from six in the evening till nine-thirty in the evening on Friday nights. The roads are closed off so that people can dance in the streets safely, but free parking is available at the lot above Towson Fitness Center for those who drive to the block party. Free music is provided by 101.9 Lite FM, and the music is always live.

I love to go to the block parties since it's free music, a good way to have some fun with friends, and possibly even make a few new friends. I love to be out in the summertime, and I always have fun with my friends at the block parties. I've been to many block parties, and it's always a fun atmosphere. One of the best things about the block party is that you can enjoy a meal outdoors while listening to some live music. There are vendors at the block party that provide food, or you can eat at one of the restaurants on Allegheny Avenue. After a long week at work, nothing beats being able to go out and have a good time with some friends, or even by yourself.

All you really need to do to join in the fun is show up. The block parties are open to all, so you don't even have to show any ID, but you may get carded if you want to buy yourself a beer. If you live close enough you can walk to the block party, or you can use a nearby parking garage. I don't have any kids yet, but the block parties are family friendly. When I do have kids I plan to take them to the block parties with me along with my husband. For now I will continue to go to the block party and eat and dance with my friends. Who knows, I may even meet Mr. Right there.
