Toxin-Free Hair-Care Products: Renpure Organics Moisturizing Shampoo & Conditioner: A Review

Most of us are reasonably conscious about quality food and its association to good health. We sometimes overlook the ingredients in hair care products. We purchase popular products, without thinking about toxic ingredients. According to Kat James, author of The Truth about Beauty, "What goes on, goes in. 60 percent of typical products we put on our skin wind up in our bloodstream."

I recently tried a new shampoo, Renpure Organics Moisturizing Shampoo. I wanted an affordable toxin-free shampoo that wouldn't strip color from my hair. The shampoo bottle clearly states that the shampoo contains "NO sulfates, parabens, color, or dyes. It's made with "100% certified organic extracts and safe, fresh, natural ingredients," and it's a "color safe formula."

Renpure Organics Moisturizing Shampoo is made in America by the Redmond family from Minnesota. They state on the bottle: "Our family has been making hair care products for over 40 years, with over a billion bottles produced worldwide. We became concerned about all the chemicals our family was exposed to on a daily basis, so we developed a new line of hair care products free from harmful chemicals. We use only 100% certified organic extracts and safe, fresh, natural ingredients."

Wouldn't it be nice if we all gave to the world what we want for ourselves?

When I tried Renpure Organics Moisturizing Shampoo, I liked the rich lather and its mild fragrance. It makes my hair look clean and moisturized. I also used Renpure Organic Conditioner. My hair isn't weighed down by the conditioner, as it sometimes is with other products. I'm pleased with both Renpure Organics Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner.

I paid $6.99 each for 13.5 fl. oz. bottles of Renpure Shampoo and Conditioner, which is reasonable. I switched from a brand I wasn't satisfied with at $9.99 per bottle.

In addition, Renpure products are not tested on animals. They say they're tested on the Redmond family. What's not to love?

What I don't love is the long list of ingredients on the shampoo bottle. The front of the bottle says,"silk protein, pomegranate & olive leaf extract." The ingredients list on the back of the bottle sounds like a chemistry lab. It took a magnifying glass to see the list and an entire sheet of paper to copy the ingredients.

I give Renpure Organics Moisturizing Shampoo and Renpure Organics Conditioner 4 out of 5 stars. The feel of my hair after using the products and the integrity of the Redmond family, in making hair-care products they say do no harm, appeals to me. The curvy bright-red bottle is also a plus.

The downside is the ingredients list. Are all the ingredients toxin free? I'm not sure. I'm not a chemist, so would love a simple ingredients list, on shampoo and conditioner bottles, that's large enough to read.
